The link shown is a BBC TV link for a programme they are currently running called "Last Man Standing".
They have grabbed 6 guys from UK and USA to visit different tribes across the world, learn their ancient cultures and join in in the "Fighting/Wars" with other tribes. The "Wars" as called "Sporting Festivals" by the BBC.
I have watched two episodes so far, the first was to do with some kind of Wrestling in Brazil and the second last night was hitting shit out of each other with sticks. The 6 competitors only fight against each other in training it seems. They all have various skills from Strongman, Endurance Athlete, Fitness and Mind guru (or something), BMX Expert, Kick boxer and one guy who is good at Rugby and Cricket.
I watched the first show (11pm Sundays BBC2) and was slightly interested with how they were wrestling with the tribes in Brazil. By the looks of it the tribes take them in and train them for just a week before battle commences and the opposition tribes couldn't care less about TV camera's or 6 guys making a documentary. In their eyes they are warriors and war must be taken to them.
At the end of the first show it showed a quick preview of next weeks show (last night) and the 6 of them along with me were left open mouthed. These stick fights are real, there is no holding back, there was real blood spilled real gashes in the head.
They had their weeks training and met fellow tribes at a Zulu Royal Wedding, after the wedding the tribe individuals challenge each other and the whacking with the sticks began. You win by either, Drawing blood of an opponent, Making them back down, or knocking them out. You could see the fear of the 6 when on the very first day they get shown a demo of a stick fight and one guy drips blood from a head wound, its OK though the medical men chucked dirt on it to stop it bleeding (like that would make me feel better).
Have a look at the link and watch the video's of it, it's real and fair play to the 6 of them, these Zulu warriors have had a lifetimes training, they had a week. They got a 50km high altitude marathon next week in sandals in the mountains of Mexico.
