I'm English and I voted Israel, simply for the reason they don't detonate kids to prove a point..Sup wrote:

Basically, I can assure you immigrants have an easier time here than in the Middle East. Also, why did you move if things were fine?
Did I move because Muslims told me to FO? NOMek-Izzle wrote:

Did I move because MR. Bush fucked up the country? YES
Why dont they create Israel somewhere where nobody else is living? That would solve the problem and they could live in peace there. As we know behind Israel is a 100% American support in money, guns, bombs. Israel can exist ony because of its army. There wont be peace if they live next to each other thats for sure. Plus Israel should move back to the original borders (1947) what the U.N. gave him.
Unfortunately for you, a lot of Jews already lived there and have lived there for a long time.. therefore your point is pretty void.CameronPoe wrote:

I'm not entirely sure on the point of 'we never gave up or jumped ship' is considered to be alright for the Irish, that's what Israels doing now isn't it, fighting to keep its existence? Yet they are denounced for it.Vilham wrote:

Perhaps you need to familiarise yourself with the fact that the Jewish communities pretty much vacated Judaea and went to Roman provinces in Europe, North Africa and elsewhere in the middle east. Or how else do you reckon that in 1930 there were 4m Jews in USA, 3.5m in Poland, 2.7m in Russia, 1m in Romania and but 175,000 in Palestine - the vast majority of which were misguidedly let in under the British mandate of Palestine after WWI, which was supposed to be safeguarding the interests of the existing inhabitants...Vilham wrote:

Take a look at the Irgun logo:

It ain't just Palestine they wanted - they wanted all of Jordan too. These guys wanted to take other peoples property by force. I'm sorry but I just can't condone that. The Palestinians never ousted the Jews from Judaea - the Romans did, the Palestinians never sent 6 million Jews to European concentration camps - the Germans did. It's funny how blameless Palestinians got shafted up the ass.

They were not trying to TAKE their property. The Jews in Germany needed somewhere to go. The only reason this is going on is because the Palestinians are being all bitchy and refusing to just get along with them. THEY refused the UN partition in 1947, they use terrorist tactics, the Isrealis are simply protecting their right to be there. The anti-Isreal nations in the middle east want to go in there and have a second holocaust.
All in all, the Palestinians are the bad guys, the ones that blow themselves up in the name of "freedom" that is.

A great deal of the Jewish population in Palestine by the creation of Israel were immigrants, moving into the land either before or after the Second World War. After the partition, they constituted a minority who controlled a majority of the land. Obviously, the Palestinians were upset that immigrants were establishing their country on Palestinian land. I certainly understand their argument, and why they were upset. I believe that had every right to refuse the partition, as a Texan would refuse any UN plan to partition his state between Americans and Mexican immigrants.FallenMorgan wrote:

Still, I hope that oneday they can see Judea as THEIR land, and work together towards bettering both the Muslims and Jewish people.Drakef wrote:

As much as I argue about the history of the conflict (I am a history major, and I love it), I do realize that the past is largely irrelevant. While I can understand why the Palestinians continue their violence, I do not condone it nor find it justifiable by historical reason. Regardless of what occurred sixty years ago, it is now the home to millions of Israelis, who have been born and bred into their country as any of us have. Both Israelis and Palestinians rightfully can acknowledge it as home, and that is the problem. We cannot separate the two, and yet there seems to exist the need to do so.FallenMorgan wrote:

The reason why Texas would oppose a partition between Mexican Americans and other people is because they don't NEED to. The two get along pretty well, and I don't see some guy hiding bombs under his cowboy hat trying to get the "invaders" to leave.
I am sorry but you consider yourself a history major. But in your comments you actually ignore the history. My question to you is : Have you hear about the Canaanities ?Drakef wrote:

Israel was created out of the morass that was WWII and the Holocaust. . . .
The Jews have every right to live there just as the Palestinians have every right to share the land as well. The problem therein lies with the UN and its heavy favored ruling regarding the Israeli state and the almost endless funding it recieves (primarily done to rectify what happend during the Holocaust against them during WWII).
If the funding and support was equal on both sides, then both sides probably wouldnt have an excuse to fight as they do today. But the problem is that the Palestinians get shit on, and Israel gets billions upon billions from us (the USA).
Israel is in essence the 51st state in the United States. . . . Palestine is the group thats people didnt make the cut, pure and simple. . . .
When the Arabs invaded Israel it set the tone for what we see today. America already resented the Arabs due to their support for the Nazi's during WWII, so their invasion of Israel only furthered the USA's efforts in shitting on them. The USA made it their mission to make sure Israel was fully funded and supported as a total slap in the face to the Arab nations. Not too mention the USA has a huge Jewish population and most of the financial "movers and shakers" at the time were Jewish (still are to this day!). Fuck if we sided with the Arabs, gas would be like .80 cents a gallon!!
Instead gas is almost 4 bucks and Israel doesnt do shit for us except give us bad PR on a nearly constant basis!

Israel - Not the greatest of causes, not the greatest of methods.
Palestine - Semi-OK cause, the worst possible methods.
Bosh perform pretty poorly in my book.
Yeah, FDR's last few months in office don't leave too much room for smiling. What with this and Yalta.

Interesting, I would have thought the USS Quincy meeting had a greater influence over the geopolitics of the area.Israel was created out of the morass that was WWII and the Holocaust. . . .

Another interesting point. While I don't care that much, I wonder how big a part funding plays in people's claims that Palesine get a raw deal.If the funding and support was equal on both sides, then both sides probably wouldnt have an excuse to fight as they do today.
