If you can get a shot off, then you are open enough to be sniped from someone else on the map.
yeah but if they outsnipe me when i'm on the top of a 6 story building then they deserve the 2 points. the guys running up the stairs who can't shoot don't stand a chance.

i'm a sniper you can easily view my stats from this site

i've played 1.2 for about five hours and in that five hours i've increased my ratio by two tenths.
the game has been radically altered and the classes changed dramatically
the game has only been changed to make it easier for the worst players to get kills, and by doing so of course as would follow logically the better players are having a much easier time without the constraints of the old classes standing in the way. my ratio just since 1.2 has been out has been about 15:1 - ridiculous.
so allow me to explain to you why i think this patch is bad in a way that most of the people with a vested interest in seeing things changed (i'm a sniper like i said) haven't been saying - i've posted this elsewhere but i haven't had anybody actually give an adequate dispute to anything i've said so maybe you can provide it:

when you decide to mess with the balance set forth in the initial game release you are getting into a big can of worms, because community griping always produces poorly designed patches hastily released which create more problems than they fix
anybody remember then they patched AA to make it less effective due to whining? ohhh yeah, gee, that worked out well.
it was really senseless to mess with the nade launcher.. calling it "nube tubing" because it's effective and easy to use is ridiculous - it's the assault class, it's supposed to own your little ass at close range 9 out of 10 times with ease. that's the whole point of it - it goes and clears out things - that is it's strength and role - that's why they called it assault.. ahhh.. ohhh.. oooo!!! wow makes so much sense, maybe too much huh? appearantly it did. well now that class is effectively useless, nobody plays with it and as a result infantry combat is dramatically different. we have half snipers, half support - and that's basically it. spec ops no longer is the most powerful tool against tanks (hey who cares about balance when we can make some pathetic old vets who never saw c4 used that way feel more like they're back with the MEU).. and as for anti - tank, why? so you can get sniped with your slow movement or mowed down before you get close enough to use your DAO against the guy with the monster PKM.. and why even be medic when you can get the uber kills and the team points of the support class that gets a point every time a team mate changes a clip. as for assault - like we said, why? nade launcher is no longer the strongest close range weapon (of course it should be but it isn't now, idiots), so why be that class? you can't get as many kills with it and it has no team point bonuses like medic or support.. so that leaves us with sniper and support as i already said and if you've played then you know first hand for yourself.. which means that the two strongest and most played classes are the ones that stay static from a distance and kill people who wander into their crosshairs - you know what this sounds like? sounds like a patch that was made to cater to all the crappy players who just wanted to log on for half an hour and kill something, because that's what we've got know - a game based on getting the effortless kill. if you're not one of these classes or armor then you are just a poor sucker wandering around the map trying to get to/from a flag waiting to come into the crosshairs of one of the thousands of mediocre players who have just been given a gift from the gaming gods..

it's really "neat" and "fun" to talk about "realism" and the classes in abstract, but the cold hard truth of the matter is that everything should be based on creating balance through specialized niches. and the cold hard truth is that the game's balance is gone, infantry combat is radically altered and cheapened, and it wasn't really bad before unless you had less than 10,000 global points and were too much of a retard to learn to play more effectively. you improve games by looking at how it's played and making it better, not saying how it "ought to be played" and trying to conform everything to that, and not by making everything easy and catering to the worst players desire to do well (because when you do that you make it easier for good players to own anyways). not to mention that a lot of what was said in the original post was just plain inaccurate.

and when people say "gl at your feet and live" what they really are saying is "he killed me and i should have killed him" and that is a ridiculous way to impliment changes and it ignores the fact that a change might jeopardize the balance of the assault class which rests on the ability for assault class to easily win in close combat scrapes. and in all the bitching about it that fact was ignored, and as a result assault class is no longer the strongest at close range and since it's primary feature is not as good as other classes feature few people play it now.

nobody has to find a way to kill with the support class since it's so powerful. you just lay prone and wait and shoot. i think i might have explained that in my previous post - you know, the whole thing which you didn't bother to formulate a real response to about how the nature of infantry combat has been dramatically altered. you people would rather get mad than think for one second.

Thats part of the game.  It's a team game.  Squad up, watch out for your team and play smart.  It's not my fault if people aren't careful and don't play as a team.

Edit:  oh yeah, can you people quit acting like little kids with your flaming please?  There is no reason to act so infantile.  If you can't get your point across without calling someone a name then you really aren't making a point.

First of all I have to agree that flaming should be used with some discretion. Noone is going to die over it or anything, but if even a remotely valid point is trying to be made, then a fleme is really obnoxious unless it is meant to be jovial in context. If one is unnecessarily off-topic then one should expect to get called an idiot. It happens when one acts like an idiot. I don't mind the arguing that much, either, because as a developing player, I get some semblance of an opinion from topics and arguments - complaining can lead to good things.

Secondly, ComradeWho is obviously an experienced player, taken aback by changes in claymore mechanics, and expressed some wtf about it, looking for some explanation(s).  I thought it sounded like a good wtf and this made me read on. And although some comments were tangents, they were interesting, yet, I didn't see us getting to the bottom of the original question(s) of the thread. It seems to be human nature to talk a lot but not stay focused on the thread topic - been living with that for years on newsgroups and such. But there have been changes from the patch so it seems absurd to think that noone should have heated issues over it; go with it. Thanks for discussions, and rock on.

Can we get BACK ON TOPIC? Ok. Yes, you missed something, everyone missed something. And yes, the claymore and mine picking up were disabled. It was supposed to be G to pick up. They never went through with it, and you still can't blow the stupid thing up. Sorry.
