1 - genetic modification,
Oops, did that yesterday. Oh well, since I'm fucked anyway, I may as well get on the dope.

What a bunch of whackos. Do they even understand what genetic modification is?

Alright, I double-majored in both Religious Studies and Catholic Studies in college.
OK, but that doesn't make you right. I have a degree in molecular biology, and I'm usually wrong (gravely wrong apparently).

I agree with pretty much everything you said apart from your implied assertion that 'God' exists. But I happy for us to disagree on that.

What I do take issue with is the church's constant and unjustified attack on potentially life-saving research which involves genetic modification. I wonder how many Catholics use insulin for example.

It seems to me that the church is more interested spreading fear than love.

However, if you just leave it at that, all you are saying is, you feeling good about yourself is the ultimate good.
See that's the thing I hate about religions; As I see it, one of the potential weaknesses of religions as vehicles for social justice is their seeming inability to compromise. 'Ultimate good' - is there and ultimate good, or is it all relative to your situation?

I suppose the church is just doing what they've always done: provide a set of morals for people who are too lazy or stupid to figure out their own... (No offece to you Genius, you have obviously considered your own values and happen to agree with the Catholic ones).

EDIT: Hate is a strong word.

I guess the catholic church is living in sin.  GJ you self righteous douche nozzles.
Yep, good point. I like how 4-7 the Church was personally responsible for during the "Black" Ages. And number 7.....Isn't alcohol considered a drug? And they drink it in mass.

I guess you're not familiar with the nuances of transmogrification in the communion rite of the Catholic Church then?, it is the blood of the Christ not wine..

Sure there is. Earning is not just about "sweat equity". You can earn by taking risks others don't/won't take.
I understand that some people should make a more than others. But the gaps are sometimes way too ridiculous to call it earning. Exploitation is a much better word.
Sounds more like jealousy.

To make a subjective assessment of "ridiculous" because you, based on some intuitive rationale, deem someone else unworthy of their income is incredibly (somehow) elitist and communist at the same time.
Not jealous. I don't want to be ridiculously rich. And if I did it would only be so I could put that money to good use helping those that deserve it.

Subjectively, I've heard that the Catholic church recommends you give 10% of what you earn to charity, no matter what you make.  That was of course before the seven sins were modified...

I'm very much familiar with it. Just because it turns to the blood of Christ the alcohol doesn't just evaporate.

Not only that but Jesus himself drank wine when he was alive. That comes really close to labeling him a sinner.
