Crossfire is in Iraq, Bloc in Ukraine.mtb0minime wrote:
I agree with the thoughts on Bloc. It's a great map and I love it, but it feels much smaller than it is because of where the fighting goes on. I didn't even discover that pool area was available until I spawned there and took a look inside, and that was after a couple months of playing!
Heck, maybe they could link up Bog and that other map Crossfire (I think it is). In single player they're the same place and it's cool.
The pool only came with the latest patch, it made all the maps slightly larger, except for a few.mtb0minime wrote:

And its not that exciting tbhkajukenbo_kid wrote:
you can already get to the upper floors on bloc...
That's why a simple map change in the current bloc map would be a good adition.~Smokey~ wrote:

They didnt render the floors up there, so it just looks like your walking on air

The fundemental difference between COD and BF, and the reason COD4 fails to deliver engaging gameplay. It's not the thinking man's game. It's tailor made for the XBots. You want carnage, you got it. You want strategy, good luck. COD = Quantity of Kills. BF = Quality of Tactics.Aries_37 wrote:
Good idea imo, but then again I played a lot of bf2 where it could take an hour to run from one side of the map to the other and so you appreciate the tactical options afforded by more space and less spam.
However I doubt pure cod players will like bigger maps, especially not in 5v5 SnD. Things like spawn to spawn tac nades are things that oldskool cod players live for
Tactics in COD include: nade spam, choke point camping, and bunny hopping. The only thing close to 'flanking' is picking which side of the second floor window to toss your 'nade inside or deciding to spawn camp from the alley or behind the wall. These are effective for high points on small maps, but useless on larger maps. Then again, bigger maps would expose the games complete lack of balanced weaponry, most notably in HC Mode. Right now, it's pick your favorite weapon skin, pull the trigger, boom, critical kill. No need to weigh the difference between weapons. The first to react gets a kill. I laugh at the idea that they give you so many options for aiming (iron, red dot, ACOG).
Tactics in BF include: squad based objectives, exploiting the strenghts and weaknesses of a balanced class structure, and aiming. Interesting concepts to the casual, console gamer. But don't think it's all about the gameplay mechanics. The larger maps NECESSITATE these tactics.
I agree that there needs to be larger maps in this game.
Tactics in BF2 include: nade spam, spawn point armor camping, and dolphin diving. The only thing close to 'flanking' is picking which side of the Karkan streer to camp with your tank or deciding to spawn camp from the alley or from the other side of the alleythe wall. These are effective for high points on large maps, but useless on small maps. Then again, smaller maps would expose the games complete lack of balanced gameplay, most notably in during conquest with vehicles. Right now, it's pick your favorite vehicle, pull the trigger, boom, critical kill. No need to weigh the difference between vehicles, perhaps choosing between armor or bombers. The first to get to a tank get a kill. I laugh at the idea that they give you so many options for pointwhoring (insert all BF2 weapons that are unbalanced here).GeoEnvi wrote:

I really don't think you understand the bigger picture. Those of us on this section like CoD4. You don't apparently. That's fine. But don't bore us with your BF2 praising. There is whole separate section for that crap.GeoEnvi wrote:
So... you found a popular and SINGULAR example of BF2 gameplay that contradicted my discussion and, using marginal creativity, wordsmithed my post as a counterpoint. The problem is that you only countered ONE of my points with a weak argument. Yes, those same tactics are used on Karkand. But I can say that about most - if not ALL - COD4 maps.
Nevetheless...
My original plan wasn't to start a BF2 vs. COD4 flame thread. It was to open discussion with Aries_37 and support the original thread dea that COD4 needs better, larger maps to support the type of legacy gameplay that BF2 has experienced. Otherwise, COD4's going to go the way of the dodo after the next mindless, Halo-esque console-port makes its way over to PC.
t's not my fault a few of you missed that point.

Would it not be a job of a sniper to deny territory from enemy and lead them into choke points (in this case open terrain, because you will get sniped out in the open), besides just shooting them. There are multiple uses for different styles of playing.Doperwt. wrote:
larger maps is still no option for cod4, beceause it is mostly close combat. some snipers can benefit from it., but people wil run again in chokepoints. It is human nature to find and create jams. so with bigger maps, you only may camp more different places in tdm.
