Fallon was the subject of an article published last week in Esquire magazine that portrayed him as opposed to President Bush’s Iran policy. It described Fallon as a lone voice against taking military action to stop the Iranian nuclear program.

Gates has said publicly and privately that under current conditions he’s opposed to war with Iran. Joint Chiefs Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen is also against it. In fact, almost every senior military officer we’ve talked to is against launching military strikes against Iran, because as one senior official told us, “then what do you do?”

I simply pointed out that US naval groups in the Persian Gulf DO try to provoke war with Iran - why do you get so uptight when your errors are corrected?

Graybeal said nobody is actually losing a job. Personnel are simply being shifted to responsibilities outside the command. In some cases, personnel might be deployed overseas.GunSlinger OIF II wrote:

that actually makes perfect sense. A lot of reservists have been allocated to active duty positions throughout the armed forces. Smart move.Kmarion wrote:
Many of the cuts are coming among reservists or what CentCom calls "augmented staff," which are personnel assigned to the command on a temporary basis and who are not permanent.

Didn't figure they could keep up the augmentation forever. I spent a year there as an augmentee...it was crowded as hell in that building.Kmarion wrote:
