report her-him to the health dept
Crap, I live in oregon. Which safeway are you talking about?
also, wouldn't something like this be grounds to get your manager in trouble?

HAHA!!! I know exactly what you're talking about, and trust me, it isn't just your store. I use to work at one of the stores in the chain, and saw the exact same thing going on. Oh, and the pay truly BLOWS.djphetal wrote:

wow.
Do you work for the one on cornell?
Wow, your boss cares so much about money versus the health of people. Good call for not going to work

he asked for the author's name on the test and I completely forgot
Bet you a tenner she took some tylenol and gave you the flu in the first place
You have way more power in this situation than she does.djphetal wrote:
I work for a grocery store... I work in the Deli, so I'm handling a lot of food.
We don't staff a lot of people, because we don't make a ton of money, because we kinda suck compared to other options people have...
SO, when I call in sick, like I did today, my manager says "No, you need to come in..."
And I say "I can't handle food, I think I might have the flu..."
And she says "Well, we can't replace you, nobody else can come in... they would be working overtime [which of course, our cheap ass store can't afford]..."
And I say "well, I can't handle food... I could get someone sick"
She says "Well take some Tylenol and come in... if you don't look sick then they won't know you made them sick."
..........................
I then told her that about 50 percent of the people I serve food to are 50 or older, and that giving an older person the flu could potentially kill them.
Then she told me to stay home.
Honestly, what the fuck?
And last week, in talking to a coworker who works in the bakery, I learned that she was forced to come into work when she had a serious lung infection. Only a trip to the ICU finally got her out of work.
This is absolutely disgusting to me.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry for the rant... but also consider it a warning...

Upton Sinclair. A great book. 1906 if my memory is right. I read it in a College History class, taught by a guy I thought looked like a pirate due to his long hair and one hoop earring.HurricaИe wrote:
