When the user increases the font size in the browser.

99% of layouts will break when you increase the font size too much. That is to be expected. However, you want your layout to at least work when the user increases the font size a reasonable amount. If I increase the font size at all, that bug occurs. It's definitely something you can fix. Just play around with your CSS and markup.

He means the user. Go to the products page on FF and use 'Ctrl +' and 'Ctrl -' to go up and down the sizes and the menu ends up vertical
Oh i see what you mean. Im assuming your all on FF2 / FF1.5, because when i do 'Ctrl +' and 'Ctrl -'  with FF3 b4 it scales fine. So, just have to wait for firefox 3 final to be released!

Menu craps out in Firefox.

Email form should check for valid email and not null values.

Hopefully you mask the email address in the "email the traditional way" if you don't want tons of spam in that account.

IE zooms just fine, though it zooms the whole page, seems like FF just increases the text size from what you're saying.

Very good job. Especially if you learned to make it yourself, it's very professional looking. I like it.

I dont want to take all the credit. I just heavily modified this template and a CSS menu. I mean, up to a couple of months ago, i didnt know what CSS was!

WOW. Sweet. I wish I could produce a site half that good!

And I've only looked at the homepage!

I clicked expecting something decent but amateur.

But, in terms of visual design, that's top class work.

Though, personally, I would make one small alteration - have the background to the pop-up menu stay there even when the menu is hidden - I haven't peeked at your source yet, but this should be possible through css, if you're doing the pop-up that way...

I'm still struggling to pass decent but amateur.

EDIT: :loool: - NOW I read your last post!

One thign I noticed...

As I moved my mouse over the header links and the little links below, the favicon flashes... I don't know why it does this, and it's nothing big... It just does.

Other than that, frickin amazing site

Very nice. Few coding issues but the actual design is almost flawless. Very impressed! I browsed through the site fine but when I went 'home' this happened; also, actual going to the address in the address bar doesn't work either - I'll probably have to clear my cache before I see it properly:

That'll be firefox again wont it?

Seriously, run it through any code validator, the site is prefectly well coded and passes on every level, any errors are caused by the browser as that site complies with every standard it needs to.

A few sidenotes :
Keep the hover colours of the "thumbs" the same as the default. It looks as if they were links, which they are not. You don't want to attract attention to them, they just sit there, people can read them and they don't want to think they can click on them because they have a hover colour.
Also, I believe, for the benefit of the site and usability of it, that you should remove the "quicklinks". It attracts more attention to the center that way and tells the user exactly how to navigate without problems and "extra options" which are not needed. Do that, and then put the cool images and catchy phrases just above the footer.

This way the content is larger and easier to read and people can navigate better.

I also think that for a FAVICON, you should use an actual "cog wheel". I have one already designed ( it was for another site and you can use it if you wish ) and it would look cool and actually be relevant to your site.

Just a few ideas.

Not a bad site at all. I already mentioned that the header itself doesn't do it for me, but I guess that's a niggle that I can keep inside me.

Looks clean, crisp and easy to manage. A lot of information about the products and applications. Good choice of color. Nice job.

Are the pictures on the left supposed to do something?

Right!

Its 5am here in England and im yet to sleep, been slaving away making improvements based on your suggestions.

Can you tell me what you think, and see if you notice:
* QuikLinks padded (not deleted Zimmer, good compromise?)
* Images no longer change colour on hover
* Space between content and left column increased
* Increased used of icons next to links
* New icons - ticks
* Custom error pages.
* Padded tables
* Added Robots.txt, sitemap.xml and .htaccess for those who know / care.
* Email address obscured (in the code)

Zimmer, i would be interested in that favicon of yours... could i have a look at it. Plus, im aware the header image is utter shite. I suck at graphic design, but will have another attempt next weekend.

TheEternalPessimist, yay im glad someone noticed my lurverly clean code. cheers.

Still need to find out how to fix this firefox menu issue though...

Thanks for the comments. It really helps getting this bitch done once and for all.

Nice site. How do you do the appearing text thing, like the menus that appear when you hover over a area. Ive looked at the code behind the page and cant quite see how that does that.

There's not a lot he can do about that particular problem - it's an issue caused by the CSS not loading properly.

I'll answer for him. CSS. That's how.

The menu's are unordered lists, with unordered sub-lists that are initially hidden then displayed when the mouse pointer hovers over the top level menu item.

Summat a little like:

HTML:

Code:

<ul class="top">
 <li>item1
  <ul class="sub">
   <li>item1a</li>
   <li>item1b</li>
   ...
  </ul>
 </li>
 <li>item2
  <ul class="sub">
   <li>item2a</li>
   <li>item2b</li>
   ...
  </ul>
 </li>
 ...
</ul>
CSS:

Code:

ul.sub { visibility: hidden; }
ul.top li:hover ul.sub { visibility: visible; }
(that's totally off the top of my head and un-tested, so it may not be 100% correct)
(just checked and, as I thought, the above code samples demonstrate the basics of the technique quite nicely

Back after a nice seep!

Scorpion0x17, do you think there is anything i can do about the CSS issue?

Also, does anyone know how long it will take google to find the new site?

Cheers

No Scorpion, not how it is done. That is the same idea, but with one flaw, it's not completely browser friendly. The visibility options can cause some problems in older browsers.

Instead, positioning of the LIs and the "display" function in CSS is used ( i.e display: none; display: block; ). It works much more effectively and doesn't cause so many headaches when trying to code something like this.

Karma, have you submitted the site to Google?
Also, I will see what is going on with these menus. If you look at it, and then refresh the page where the error is, the CSS problem disappears. Strange, but there must be something wrong with the code.

Zimmer - Yes (i think), i went to this site (http://www.google.com/addurl/)

Ive also got Google Webmaster Tools going, and apparently the last time my site was indexed was Mar 11, 2008 (dont know when before that though). Ive submitted a sitemap (xml), but worryingly my PageRank is low (the site my one is replacing was a terrible 3 page waste of space). Ive also got robots.txt to allow all, and linked the sitemap in the robots.txt file.

Im using Firefox 3 beta 4 and i dont get any of these problems. So maybe its an issue with Firefox 2 rendering engine? Or do you think there is a way the code could be improved? Maybe an <!--IF FF2-->?
