Hmmmm, funny how much of the Star Trek universe has made its way to reality in the past 40 years ain't it?

communicators=cell phones
video monitors=video monitors and web cams
computers= well, computers
computer discs=floppy disks and cassettes.

any others?

cloning is already a science fact, is it really too much of a stretch to think that human cloning can not come to pass?

What are you opinions on it?

Do you think cloning should be made legal for humans?

If so, why?

If not, why?

What are your thoughts/opinions on cloning and science such as this?

Inspired by my science class and that thread about the drones, which can be found here: http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=72478
If the power is there, it will be used.

We might as well advance our studies of cloning, because if we don't do it, others still will (like Singapore).

I don't mean cloning isn't possible/won't happen, I was talking about the guys who were saying "Don't clone people because we will end up with a superior race of supermen who will enslave us all"

You know I don't have a movie in mind it's a figure of speech, but now that you mention it: The 6th Day?

cloning is probably an interim technology on the path of cybernetics. man and machine will eventually converge.  we will engineer our way to immortality.

you wanna see the future? watch Ghost In The Shell.

Yep maybe sexual reproduction is more "risky" than cloning but only in the short run....
Yeah, I understand all that, but then when it comes to cloning who's really talking about creating 'clone armies' and the like?

The really great thing about cloning is you don't have to produce a whole living being - you can just reproduce certain tissues and/or organs.
Was just arguing why cloning shouldn't replace sexual reproduction as the way we reproduce ourselves.

I'm all for cloning of organs and so on to be able to replace broken parts of our body. I see no problems in this at all, its just very beneficial for mankind.

Cloning humans is a bad idea (evolution wise, better keep mixing the gene pool), but cloning for medical reasons should definately be allowed.
Humans have too much emotions, we could clone more soldiers and something else lol

Yes, so we can get good at it. Who knows, we might be able to cure cancer, cease aging, bring families back together. If I was to get cloned for any of these reasons and I was the resulting clone AND I had a choice I would say yes, please do clone me. Thousands if not millions would benefit or become much happier for just one person.

Let me also add that I will bet anyone who is against it, will change their minds when/if their kid needs one.
Or could benefit from it themselves.

(SHOCK! we agree on something lowing!)
No, im against cloning humans/parts of humans in anyway.

I don't belive in curing diseases, i've always liked medical science, and i like researching diseases and whatnot.

But, if i had a fatal disease like cancer i wouldn't take a cure for it, i believe that humans were born to die, and we have no right to prolong our life.

Emotions? Are those inherited at birth? I don't see a reason in cloning humans for the purpose of war?
oh ooh   i'm not serious

Nor do I.

How could you even suggest something like that? Although this will stop loved ones from dieing, what will you do with the clones once the war is over?
