The thing about anything integrated on a motherboard is that if it goes down, you will either have to a: replace the part that goes down i.e., video card, ethernet card, etc. or b, get a new mobo. It sounds like that your video card over heated and stopped working efficiently. The best way to see if your video card is gone is to see if you can hook it up to another monitor or projector....whichever you have available. If you see the fuzziness on the monitor or projector, then you know it is definitely the vid card and you can take the appropriate action i.e., get another motherboard or simply (and probably more practical as laptops are hard to fix) get a new laptop. Hope that helps ya bro.
well, the screen has completely died now. I just tried turning it on and it loads but past the loading windows screen it just stays black..fuck
photobucket probly resized it when he uploaded it i would guess.SenorToenails wrote:

maybe your inverter cable is loose. try pushing around on the back of the screen and see if it makes it fuzzy or better...

15 more years! 15 more years!
Turns out it was a hardware fault. Since it's still under service warranty, Dell are bringing me a shiny new gfx card, mobo and LCD monitor on monday. All it took was one phone call
holy shit....talk about customer service, huh?..teddy..jimmy wrote:

and from Dell.....i am really shocked tbh....
Yeah, I was pretty amazed myself. I think it was because it was business support line as my laptop was ordered by the technicians at my mum's office. They're even driving over here on monday. I don't have to send it in.Parker wrote:

Sure, they're PCs aren't the best, but their customer service is great
I don't get why you people think so poorly of Dell customer service, they always come to replace stuff the next day. Either they bring the stuff (HD, easy stuff you can put in yourself), and if it's MoBo or Screen, a technician comes to replace them. Never had a single complaint in the 20 times I saw them coming at work.
And their pc's are okay for all-day work. Only a few systems that will run good at games though, but for business and students, it's one of the best choices you can take these days.

That's what you get when you watch a movie from China.

dell has always been good to me... but yeah i think if you have business support you are way better off than the home users...teddy..jimmy wrote:

and make sure you watch this guy who fixes your shit. they use "dell-certified technicians," which i also happen to be. if you know me, you'd know that's a scary thought.
Lol the computer tech must hate me now. It took him like 3 hours to find the problem. He had to install a new Mobo, gfx card and monitor and on Wednesday he's coming back with some more parts which will fix my mouse pad which died after I spilled beer on it.
Took me an hour to find my wireless network key aswell.
I pay nothing.
/win.
