It's not a matter of how long we're in Iraq, it's if we succeed or not.

And both Sen. Obama and Clinton want to set a date for withdrawal -- that means chaos, that means genocide, that means undoing all the success we've achieved and al Qaeda tells the world they defeated the United States of America.

I won't let that happen.

Obama wrote:

When I am this party's nominee, my opponent will not be able to say that I voted for the war in Iraq; or that I gave George Bush the benefit of the doubt on Iran; or that I supported Bush-Cheney policies of not talking to leaders that we don't like. And he will not be able to say that I wavered on something as fundamental as whether or not it is ok for America to torture — because it is never ok… I will end the war in Iraq… I will close Guantanamo. I will restore habeas corpus. I will finish the fight against Al Qaeda. And I will lead the world to combat the common threats of the 21st century: nuclear weapons and terrorism; climate change and poverty; genocide and disease. And I will send once more a message to those yearning faces beyond our shores that says, ‘You matter to us. Your future is our future. And our moment is now.'

Not sure how this is DS&T.  McCain is still using that tired old rhetoric that language for withdrawal = defeat, loss of national pride (like we have any left), shows we're weak (let someone challenge us then),  and that it's for the lost lives to stay there and not let their "sacrifice" be in vain (a burden the person starting the war should bear).  He's a Bush parrot 100%..he's "3rd term Bush" in every way, with every hollow, meaningless, compaign slogan he repeats.  he should just retire (since he has missed over 50% of his votes as a senator anyways) and be a fox "pundit."

Chaos will reign supreme in Iraq regardless of our presense.  I would venture to say that if we leave, it'll stabilize quicker than if we stay.  Let Iran and other neighbors stabilize it..they actually want to..partly for the sake of the Iraqis..which we obviously don't give a crap about.

Here, watch this BS.. This senile old fart is ENDANGERING Americans by having these shameless campaign photo ops (even though he vehemently declared his surprise visit to Baghdad was NOT for a campaign photo op).  He pulls away 100 or so troops, equipment, and probably some helocopters to protect him as he does...his photo op walk through a new market (since the market he walked through last year is now out of US control).  He's a piece of shit, shamelessly costing tax dollars for flights in and out of Iraq for campaign photo ops meant to make him look like he's experienced, like he gives a shit about troops (troops who's dollars by a far majority have gone to Obama over any other candidate from both parties), and like he has a grip on reality over there.

There is plenty of national pride left IC (although our global image has been battered). I do feel that McCain is a Bush parrot though.

Yeah, that's what I meant...our international image, thanks.  There are proud Americans still, I am partially one only because I am proud of what we were, what we can be, and I'm proud of our people and this land.  I have no pride in our representation, or our failed system of governance on most levels.

I'm about sick of people framing every damn thing in relation to Bush.  Bush isn't running!  For the record I think all 3 candidates suck ...

It would appear that McCain has actually put thought into what the consequences of parroting popular slogans would be.

Not so much for Obama.

I know, I hear ya'.  McCain has gone off the deep end all by himself.  His "100 years in Iraq" quote, even if taken out of context, brings Bushisms to a whole new level.  And Chris Ware was just so prissy about the "shopping in Baghdad" thing.

Obama on the other hand, with his Kennedy copy-cat style making people inspired and shit...thats just garbage.  I mean, he might encourage us to put another American on wierd planet again, probably Mars this time and restore some sense of national dignity.  That would suck.

Yeah, but it's not votes or delegates that count I'm guessing.  It's the paid "super" delegates that Bill has been schmoozing long before things got competative between the two dems.  She's loosing them slowly, but not fast enough.

We should all pray that the DNC will honor the peoples' votes, not the paid ones..

"It's not a matter of how long we're in Iraq, its whether we succeed or not."

TBH I find that quote pretty scary.  Are we supposed to go bankrupt and send every last able man over there to finish the fight?  ........................

Either McCain is acting all tough and shit to appease the conservatives (which is my bet) or he's a bit delusional.

It's only scary if you're not interested in winning.

If you're OK with losing, that's up to you.
