I love how everyone just went along like sheep to the benchmarks given like a month before release.

Tom's Hardware did an extensive review, testing it on several games. On the majority of games, it absolutely SMOKES the 3870X2 and 8800 Ultra.

See for yourself: http://www.tomshardware.com/2008/03/18/ … index.html

The only bad thing I've seen so far is that for some games when AA is turned on in maximum resolutions (2560x1600), it's performance drops by a bit. I'm sure new drivers will fix this.

It beats the 8800 Ultra/3870x2 by far in (I'm going by the 1920x1200 resolutions, not the 2560x1600 resolutions):

UTIII
CoD4 (By almost DOUBLE with AA and AF on!!)
Test Drive Unlimited (an almost 20 FPS drop)
Crysis (42.5 fps with AA/AF off!)
World in Conflict
Supreme Commander
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (18 fps difference with AA/AF on)

Tom's Hardware sums it up saying that it's good for someone who changes their GFX card every year or so, but for someone who keeps their GFX card for a good 2-3 years, it's best to go for an 8800 GTS 512 or 8800 GT.

I'll be getting this.

Omg..worlds most expensive card (for gaming) and it still only manages 40 FPS in crysis.

Even though, it performs far better than I expected. I would absolutely rape on 1280x1024

There was a hilarious article in GameInformer in their April Issue where the made all these parody articles for April Fool's day, and one of them was "NASA almost able to run Crysis smoothly at max graphics settings".

I reccomend a second 8800GTS G92 if you have a single 8800GTS 512MB or a 3870X2, the difference is performance minimum and when you compare prices, I say a 3870X2 wins over the 500,00 9800GX2. It's the fastest single card but not worth the 500,00

If you're a tech enthusiast like myself, the $600 is very, very worth it. A pretty major performace increase.

Plus, give it 3 months time, and I'm sure the price'll be down to $500 or less when the 9800 GTS/GTX come out.

I dunno, went through the Guru3D review and they would do a review with 88GTs G92's in SLI soon, I'll wait for that.

Problem is, that it may be $600 dollars for you(If you are an American), but it is €550 euro's here! Thats roughly $800 dollars. Now, not a single GPU is worth that amount of money. Hell I can buy an E8400 + 8800GT + A XFX 780i mobo for that €550 euros.

Exactly. And like I said, true enthusiasts won't mind the price.

A single card then... Still its $800 dollars. Its not for the enthousiasts, its for the uber-rich peeps. anyway, don't want to start a flame-war here so its a good card but way to expensive.

I wonder how it is compared to tri-fire and quad-fire... Since quad-fire is almost the same price as one of these in here.

Even with my paycheck it would be a huge blow to the wallet, do earn good for a 19 year old but I want to maintain my car better than my PC.

You don't have to be rich to be an enthusiast. For example: Maxishine on Youtube. Constantly upgrading his PC (Has 3 8800 Ultra's right now) and yet he has a moderately paying job. http://www.youtube.com/user/maxishine

Hell, I'm nowhere close to being rich, yet I'm gonna buy it.

no, it's for people who are willing to use a lot of money on PCs (ie - enthusiasts).

You don't need to be rich at all to have $600. It's all about how you want to use it.

And, kind of off topic but not: Why not a Q9450?

They should've tested it against SLI 8800GT's/GTS/GTX and shit. Seeing as they're probably cheaper than that one card itself, and probably better performance. Also it's 1.5X faster than the 3870X2, but also 1.5X more expensive maybe a little more (roughly using OCUK's pricing).

The price is what fucks it over.

Holy shit! Because of my usertitle I immediately went to the appropriate benchmarks and saw... 54 fps on 1920x1200 @ very high. OMFG. That's 20 fps more than the performance of Tri-Sli 8800 Ultra. I'm so gonna buy this card!
Does anyone know if it might run on a 620 watt enermax liberty? I don't know if power consumption has been mentioned because I just clicked Crysis benchmarks, saw it, got in a shock, and did a dance. I do not even want to read the rest :S
