My entire family sucks. They did nothing special nor will we do anything special. Especially my Father, His father, and So on. We all have abrasive personalities, We get angry easily, Cant live with others without being the asshole or odd man out in the group, And we all look and talk the same.

I hate that, I hate being a mirror of them, I hate that i was only born out of their own fear of death, But most of all i hate the genetic make up that i have and will have my whole life because of these assholes. I'm not a nice guy, I am Fail. Nearly all men from my fatehrs side in the family are like this. My brother on the other hand is not.

edit: my great, great, great, great, great grandfather was this guy:
https://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f180/parkercustoms/kenton.jpg

Simon Kenton was born in 1755, in the Bull Run Mountains of Prince William County, Virginia. We don't know a lot about Simon's parents' early life. We do know his father, Mark Kenton, Sr. was born in Ireland (presumably County Down), his family was known for their political activism. Simon's mother Mary Miller Kenton was apparently born in Virginia, but her family was of Scotch-Welch ancestry. Simon had a fairly uneventful youth but was intrigued by stories of the Kentucky wilderness until one day he was forced to flee to the frontier at the age of 16 under unusual circumstances.  (those unusual circumstances were simon beating someone nearly to death. he tied his long ass hair around a tree and laid into him.....over a girl lol. but he thought he had killed the guy, so he took off.)
Like the glowing iron straight from the coals to the anvil, Simon's later teen years forged a character that caused him to be respected for his knowledge of the land and competence as a woodsman by pioneer and indian alike. His courage under fire was legendary, tested again and again. Kenton was a key figure in opening up and keeping the frontier safer for all of north and central Kentucky.

A big man in stature and strength, his stamina was often tested as he endured the worst that was known to the frontier. During the winter of 1773, Simon and 2 companions were attacked around the campfire as they were drying their wet clothes. Yeager killed, the other two barely escaped naked. They finally met some longhunters on the banks of the Ohio River after a week of hunger and barefoot wandering in the Kentucky wilderness.

In September of 1778 Simon was captured by Shawnee Indians. He was tied, his hands bound, to a wild horse galloping through the trees. He was forced to run the infamous 1/4 mile "gauntlet" (which killed many prisoners) nine times. After the sixth, while attempting escape, had a hole hammered in his skull and was unconscience for two days. With a war club and axe, his arm and collarbone were broken. The indians called him "Cuttahotha" which means "condemned to be burned at the stake" which they attempted 3 times. Finally in June 1779 he was able to escape from Detroit. After a 30 day march he made it back to the American settlements.

The Indians also knew him as "The man who's gun is never empty" for his skill of running and reloading his faithful flintlock at the same time. He heroically risked his life to save many future Kentuckians not the least of which was his lifelong friend Daniel Boone. Another good friend and fellow soldier was George Rogers Clark who lived on Simon's property in his later years.

my family is made of military masterminds. My dad and I both refused service. One of my grandfathers deserted the nazi army twice, the other accidentally let roughly 50 prisoners escape. And the generations before that weren't much better either
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

If you resign your life and existance to pain and hurt and all that shite, well that's what your life will be.

No-one has to be like their Father, we can all make choices, and it is choices that make us. So stop being so depressed about everything, and try and make something of yourself.

There's a hill in Devonshire England named after my great, great, great grandfather - still trying to figure out why.

My grandfather helped NASA in its infancy, figured out how to cast titanium in a vacuum (the russian stole it and made Alfa subs with it), has a wing of the engineering department at University of Illinois named after him, and did classified work with the gov't re: nuclear.

My other grandfather was threatened by Al Capone & switched from DA's office to private practice.

My father is a finance manager for DHL exel, his father was in the army and was a Japanese (or German) POW, i forget which.

My mums side is more exciting, she is a sales consultant D: anyway, HER father invented brylcreem but sold the formula, then her mum divorced or something and the other guy invented an air compressor for the mines, and the other father (lol) was in the RAF doing something in WW2.

My dad's dad was the son of 1 immmigrant (born in Japan) who was abandoned by his father while still a baby. His mother worked for railroads so he was left pretty much to his own devices from age 10 on. Born in 1912 he spent most of his young adult life in Chicago, during the depression, where he was in the mix with pimps, pushers, prostitutes, bootleggers (this was the South Side of Chicago) who largely counseled him in his formative years. This I think made him into what I knew him as, a crude, yet generous man who was no stranger to a drinking contest or brawl.

In 1932 he joined the Army which would be his career. This was a man who came of age during the depression and who had no real family (at least until meeting my grandmother). The Army was his family. The Army gave him purpose, gave him a living, made him feel needed and useful. He was a soldier to the day he died in 1994. And was the closest thing I could describe to an old school warrior, a knight of old.

He had a sadness to him and lived with pain. Physical and mental pain. From heart attacks, cancer, losing his wife 11 years before he died, friends lost during "unpleasant times", the emotional scars from 3 wars (WWII, Korea, and early Vietnam). But he'd give you the shirt off his back, bitching you out the whole time.

I loved my grandfather and had the opportunity to live with him for 8 years before he died.

Truly he was one of the finest human beings to ever walk the earth and I miss him dearly.

My father is a builder/carpenter/roofer/stoneworker; he built our entire family home with his own hands. Ireland in his time was not something the current generation could comprehend easily in economic terms; almost the entire male population of my home county had to go to England and Scotland at one time or another to follow the work. My father even worked on the oil rigs in Scotland at one stage. Back then times were hard for many people, particularly in rural areas. Many people who were more than intelligent enough for college qualification could not afford the 'luxury' of such a thing back then, and even if they could there was no guarantee that the jobs were available in Ireland once you had finished. Myself and many of my friends who went to college with me and went onto become engineers, designers, doctors and so on come from working class backgrounds. My father worked very hard all his life and afforded myself and my brothers the opportunities that many from his generation could not have. As a teenager I worked a few summers with my father on the building site and it is one of the toughest jobs out there.

His father's father was also involved in construction and was a popular figure among the Irish in London back in his day. He would set people up with work when they made it over from back home. Sadly I never got to know my Grandfather, him having died before I was born.

My Great-Grandfather was a Blacksmith, that used to be our family trade and he supposedly had a knockout punch on account of his incredibly strong hammer arm. This knock out punch has of course been passed on to my generation!
