for youtube: download the movies off of youtube using a firefox add-on or some other way then use videora (google it) to change the format to mpeg-4 or w.e. the ipod format is.

For the DVDrip, just get the video file with a generic ripper and videora it.

Use the download helper addon for firefox to download the video as an FLV, then use http://super.en.softonic.com/ super to convert to ipod format.
Check out the free software list in the tech forum http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=91330 for something for DVD's.

Super will convert just about anything to ipod, or any other format (even into the cell phone movie format.)
