Thats really weird. My buddy does the whole itunes thing, and after having his ipod die they took it from him before he could back it up and told him to re-download his music.

He re-downloaded the music that he had bought for free....so?
Only thing I can think of is they re-authorized his account to download the songs. I never got a second chance when I forgot to back up my stuff
did you goto apple with it or just toss it and buy a new one?
Either way you just proved all 3 of my points.

Your music purchases should be tied to your store account; it obviously isnt or else you could just log in from anywhere and get your music.

This is why people get music from a reliable 3rd party website. There is no bs. Download and play. No restrictions or subscriptions.

Nonono, I mean I reformatted my computer's hard drive without backing up.

I think I e-mailed them, they might have re-authorized it. I didn't have many songs from the store anyways.
lol, I know what you mean....My point being that everyone gets together on the internet and goes "yeah I heard apple touched some kid inappropriately at his birthday party" then everyone talks about how one time they apple wearing white after labor day and he has a drinking problem.

I'm not really an apple fan...But lets at least keep it accurate/factual. You guys are bashing their policies, but when I ask you about it you only had a couple songs lost...you never even called about it, you sent an email and don't really even remember the outcome...as you said you aren't even sure if they gave you that music back.

You didn't even try to get you music back, but you offer the loss of your music as support for criticism. I'm just making the point that if you try actually dealing with them in person at a store, or even over the phone perhaps its not as bad as made out to be?

I don't see how I proved your point? The people agreeing never actually even tried. My friend who did try got his music back with out backing anything up. Back up is simple and I have all my digital music on at least 3 hard drives.
