My fart is hell.
People say that it burns like tear gas.
Whoops. I didn't realize it was D&ST.
Well, it really depends.

Ahh, the convenient religion.

So if you aren't sure...then how do you picture these concepts?

I am religious but I have a slightly different concept...I don't think you get punished or rewarded.

He's saying that if you are agnostic, it's a convenient way of not making an assumption on the divine.

He calls it convenient, but I call it logical.  Granted, I'm actually atheist, which means I'm making an assumption as well....

If it comes to making assumptions I'd say I'm an atheist too, but since you can't make an assumption based on nothing, then I'm agnostic.

Convenient as in: imagine yourself in front of a TV set with a remote.  You get to choose whatever you want to watch.

And if you want to get really deep...there's nothing on TV.

Since I'm not sure who built the Tv and the remote control, I prefer to watch whatever I want.

And the remote control is complete with a mute button, and allows you to flip through many channels before stopping at one...moving on when you get bored.

Of course this is still preferred over some TV sets that are in black and white, only get one channel, and only have one volume - earsplitting loud.

Ok, but that one channel on the B&W seems to me very boring and unbelievable.  I'll stay with the LCD Tv and the 200 channels pack.

In order to answer such a question, Hell must be put into context.  It has become such a subjective word and term that it has no real absolute meaning.  Hell in the biblical sense?  Hell in the "there must be something better than this" sense?  I'm really not trying to be an asshat here, just focus my response is all.

Constantine has an interesting perspective on this I'm sure most of us have seen.

In any respect, I don't believe in Hell.  If I did, I suppose Earth would be at least the lion's share of it.  It's where we learn our lessons and suffer our defeats.  Heaven, to me, is a place for complete beings or incomplete souls on their way back to Earth (Hell) for more education and learning.

How's this for a theory... Earth is just Earth. Why does the human psyche feel the need to create imaginary after worlds that we've never seen or could ever possibly have proof of.

Apparently, some Russian drilling guys heard screaming when they drilled below an earthquake (through some powerful microphones to detect waves underneath the earth's crust) - so maybe not quite earth is hell: but underneath it is.

I really think a lot of people are missing the point of the OP.  I don't believe it was a rail on how much Earth and life sucks.  This is merely a theological hypothesis.  As Hell is often simply a relative term, Earth could easily be considered Hell when compared to the bliss that we are told awaits us in the Heaven archetype.

I completely agree that your time on this Earth is largely what you make of it and little else.  Things will always happen to you, but you always have a choice as to how you react.  I don't care if there's a gun to your head or not - you have a choice.

Let's not forget this world can be pretty damn awesome at times... that doesn't really fit in with the classic concept of hell.
