The L96 does as much damage as the M24 and the M95, and it is as accurate as the M24, making it the equal most damaging and most accurate rifle in the game. For all intents and purposes it is exactly the same as the M24 (check their stats on the wiki if you don't believe me), and the M95 is in second place behind them. The M95 has been improved, it's true, but it's still plagued by a stupid crosshair, and who really cares about shooting helicopter pilots when only noob pilots stay still long enough to get an M95 round (I pilot helis a lot, and I've taken a lot of fire from M95 users, and never been killed by one while flying). Basically unless you want to shoot through objects (the M95 also penetrates humvee glass, and thin metal, like the walkway on the construction site cranes) the L96 or the M24 is the best sniper rifle. In fact the only thing that makes the L96 better than the M24 is you can use it as any team. Sure, it is marginally faster to reload, but it's a fractional thing and if you're a halfway decent sniper you know that speed has nothing to do with the art.

The L96 is not silenced, I don't know how that gets spread around, it has the most badass sound, and I've heard it fire from the City Entrance flag on Sharqi when the guy using it was at the Surveillance Post flag. The thing is that the 1.2 patch seems to have bugged the sounds a bit, I've been killed a bunch of times by PKM firing that I havent heard, even when I can see the guy firing and he's very close by.

I have used both a little, I think M24>L96A1>M95 (unless you are camping an airfield)

M95 sucks. L96A1 is much more accurate, the only way I would consider using the M95 over it would be if it was a one hit kill, or if I needed to kill someone in a heli.

they both still have 2 shots to kill like wtf .50 cal or 12.7mm how can that not be 1 shot kill a .50 cal bullet is huge how cant that kill i just dont get it!!!
its so the game will be more balanced.

i also like the l96a1 more because its easier to aim for the head at long distances.

I prefer the L96.  It is more accurate, and makes less noise than the M95.  (I like to hunt down M95 users by sound)  However, I do like the M95 in rounds with lots of AT and Assault players because of the armor penetration.

Meh, I never thought I would retire my m24, but I ended up doing so. I will still take my baby out of her rifle case now and again though, but I have been using the L96A1 alot, I wanna go back to m24, tomorrow, m24 only baby!

i have used both i really think its what up ur alley
M95
1.Not as much bullet drop
2.shoots through armourd glass
3.loud as hell
4.big flash from muzzle
5.good for medium range shot(any closer they hear u, and further cant hit him 50% of time)
6.better then PlA AND MEC (i think)

L96A1
1.Slient (still sound)
2.Nots as much muzzle flash
3.cant shoot through armoured glass
4.thinner cross hair
5.bit more accurete
(it is all underserconstances)  if theres a nooby heli pilo then whip out ur m95 if theres abuch of guys running around use the l96.
Thats my 2 cents
My Sis is RETARTED!
ilike the l96A1 cause it looks cool

Well, when I get my next promotion I will unlock the L96 to start with.

It would depend on the map for which rifle I use. I would use the M95 if a map is wide open and choppers are a threat. Mainly choppers. Taking pilots out of cockpits is alot of fun.

If I was in a small town setting having to deal with alot of infantry, L96.

L96 without a doubt.  The crosshairs are skinnier, and it is more accurate.  As for power, a lot of people don't seem to understand that the M95, M24, and L96 are all the same.

I definitely love the sound and crosshairs of the L96A1, but I have trouble hitting long distance shots with it.
I have not been sniping long (only ~23 hrs), and mostly in city SF maps, which may be my problem; I'm not really used to making long distance shots.  Anyway, does it seem like the L96A1 has more bullet drop to anyone else?
If you look at the stats, the L96 is clearly superior (most accurate along with M24, most damage along with M24 and M95, quickest reload, best crosshair).  Well, there is supposed to be some drawback with every unlock to balance it out, but I can't find one with the L96.  Could it be bullet drop?

l96a1 is an incredible weapon. since the patch, ive put in about 20 hours as a sniper, and i have quadrupled my claymore kills and my ratio with the kit has shot up well past 2.2 now. my accuracy has gone up several percentage points with the rifle, and as a sniper I AM EARNING GOLD MEDALS!!!! that was impossible before 1.2. a sniper needed to be lucky in the right place at the right time and be a real good/lucky shot to get a gold medal if thats all he did was hide and snipe the whole round. now, you can post up as defense for a spawn point, you can go out and attack from long range, you can cover entire lengths of ground making impassable unless a tank or apc rolls through... l96a1 rules....

pre patch I was 100% the 24. Since 1.2, my order of wep choice is the 96 then the 24. I still never touch the 95. with over 400 hours as snipe and 14,000 kills, the times i've ever said to meself "I wish i had a 95 to get that chopper/vehicle" I can count on 3 hands. The once ina blue moon thru-glass shot to me is not worth carrying the most innaccurate scoper in the game for. IMHO. I do however appreciate the rather muffled sound of the 96 and have found my posistion less compromised than with the 24. Sooo. the 96 has my vote lads.

I like the M24 the most. It is still my favourite gun.

I've never like the M95. The thought of a 2 shot to kill .50BMG rifle is laughable. I refuse to use it for that reason, and I'm not good enough to snipe pilots.

The L96 was a godsend for my MEC/Chinese armoury. However I've noticed it doesn't have the long range accuracy of the M24. I can make heashots with the M24 over ranges where the L96 doesn't even hit the target.

I do definately like the new Sniper class. My favourite role in the game is now Counter-Sniper. I've racked up 25+ kills for one or two deaths by picking off other snipers. I especially like killing M95 armed enemies.

And people are both 1) stupiiiiid and 2) impatient. The number of times I've killed someone on a "sniper vantage point" like cranes or stuff and then killed them again when they've tried to go back there is huge. Same with people who I've sniped, but not killed. If you wait long enough, even if they know where you are, they will eventually think you've given up, or that time has gone passed with no kills and they will move out of cover again. Blam. Headshot. Thanks.

If you have to move into concealment/cover to stop being sniped, wait a could of seconds. Even as few as 30, and then when you move out again they will generally not be looking at you.

Idiot snipers.

I'm lovin' the L96. I found that it's much better against long range targets and I find it much easier to lead a target. The sound that it makes is just assume.

The only problem that I have with the L96 is that my FPS seems to drop while using the scope; it's not normally a problem, apart from when I have to make the occational snap shot. I might have to adjust my display settings.

L96.  Hell the damned thing just sounds better.  I don't know what it is but I've been hitting more head shots witht this one.  Perhaps it's the scope or just the excitement of a new rifle.

I like the 95 but the 96 is equally as sweet.

Technically L96 > M24 > M95 (not counting the vehicle damage) >> rest. But I am yet to find the calculations for bullet drop. Thus perhaps you are right and is that the place to find the balance.

But the master of arts choose the L96 over the M24, so I'd guess that he found the bullet drop no reason for not usung the gun...

L96A1...I rarely shot at helo's with the M95.  I've found the L96 to be a far superior rifle.  The odds of me using the M95 again are slim.
