Here's his message from another forum. He wants all the helpful responses he can get.

I have an Intel D945Gtp mother board
and I'm not sure why but the mic on the on-board sound card doesn't seem to work correctly
I've had the mobo for about 4 months and by myself I haven't been able to figure out the problem
I know that both the mics i have do work
and when I talk people can hear me..... they just need to turn there speakers all the way up
I use vent and teamspeak a lot for gaming
and people can never hear me,unless they turn there speakers up all the way
I've checked, and re checked the settings in both the programs, as well as in volume control
I installed the audio stuff that came with the board, I've reinstalled it
hell, today I ran my mic through my stereo to try and use it as an amp
but nothing seems to work
all the other ports work fine to my knowledge
but I cant for the life of me figure out why it wont work
I even put in another sound card, but it wouldn't work at all (probably because I couldn't actually find drivers)

Has anyone else had this problem?
Does anyone know how to fix it? or some kind of alternate solution?

Thanks in advance

It's the mic that isn't working? Have a try with another mic to the card?

Edit input settings of the applications? Activated mic boost? You should get your friend over here and stop acting as a middle hand, that would be a bit more effective.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
