Government corruption is probably a cultural thing that a revolution wouldn't change.

- Why don't the Mexicans have a damned revolution?
I don't think that revolution is the goal of rebel peasant groups in Mexico
Whenever you see the word peasant in a news article just replace that with the word Indian - that would be more accurate.
The news media spins the stories to fit into the socialist/communist peasant cookie cutter news story where the actual truth is closer to the fight for Aboriginal rights like the fight for Native American rights and land claims in the US, or Aboriginal rights in Canada or Australia. I don't think that the Indians of Mexico desire to overtake the Mexican government and I can't blame them.

I would assume Deadmonkie's explanation is probably closest to the truth. The most desperate people in Mexico often come to America (legally or illegally). As long as we serve as a refuge for them, there isn't much incentive to fight for a better system.
In all honesty, I really can't blame them.

Anyone read about the border problems Mexico has with it's Southern border in National Geographic? Totally 'effed up. People getting killed on the way north...robbers/rapists etc. They exist because everyone has to carry bribe money if they get caught by the local police.
I have a client from Mexico City...he tells me that if you make bank deposits larger than $2000, you have to pay the government tax. So people end up sleeping on their money instead of going to a bank. The government does this so they collect something - most of the economy is underground and therefore not reported...and I'm talking about the legal economy.
Mexico used to be a good place for factories, but then they got underbid by Asia. So economically you're looking at a few winners, but most of the economy goes into servicing the locals - all unreported to the government to avoid tax. The tax system is you pay x% (I think 5-15%) of what you own. So you don't report what you own. If you get caught, you bribe.
So alas, until the desparity between the US and latin America is solved economically, the immigrants will be pulled North, all the way from South America.
Unfortunately I do not think a revolution will create jobs. Plus it won't create jobs south of their border either.

the last mexican revolution brought the first large influx of illegal immigrants from the south.

*yawn*
Mexico is not all that bad and they're have a few revolutions. They just need to narrow the income distribution gap, but that's not anywhere near some revolutionary shit.
its getting better every year. there is a rising middle class in mexico.

Probably because why should they go to all the hassle of revolting against thier government when they can come here to the U.S. and get everything they need for free? I don't believe they would ever do something like that unless we cut them off to the point that it became a necessity. Which is what we need to do, but never will.
Which is easier: revolting, or coming to the U.S.?
Seriously you think Mexicans come here for handouts?
Illegal Mexicans will always work harder and never expect a handout. The only Mexicans who expect freebies are the ones that were born in the USA and have adopted US customs. Put that in you pipe and smoke it MOFOS!
They should become communist, to redistribute the wealth.
Oh wait, i don't think America will like that.

Some Mexicans do. Some Mexicans commit crimes here, and because they aren't citizens, it becomes much trickier to prosecute them.rawls2 wrote:

So, in all honesty, to assume all Mexicans are lazy criminals is wrong, but to assume NONE of them are is also wrong.
In one way or another, Mexicans come here for a better life. The ones that do it legally are fine with me. The ones that do it illegally need to be deported.
