I finally just finished building a Stirling engine.  It's a low temp model and it runs at aprox 73 rpm.  I made a base with 3 small halogen lights on a dimmer switch that it runs off of.

What do you guys think.

If the technology comes to where you can really harness the power of these, this is what your car will be running on........ just a difference in temp between the top and bottom plates.

Very cool! though I doubt those will get to the point of powering a car....maybe creating the electricity to power your electric car...but not in the car its self.

Never the less it looks badass. Now gear it up to something and put it to work.

Have you tried to rate its power output yet?

well, your probable right about this type powering a car...... But a high temp is possible right now but the size it has to be is to large with current technology.

Finally had a chance to make a video.  Managed to get it up to around 140 to 150 rpm.  I put some bearings on the linkages attached to the flywheel.  I also made a new power piston (small thing on front) and drilled it out to lessen the weight.  I dropped it by over 50 %.
