In fact the Skulltrail fails all around. Sounds great on paper but performs very, very badly. BIOS is shit too.

How much does your HD3870X2 do?

haven't done much gaming due to powerplay bug but at least in Dod: Source (no powerplay bug in it) works super fast. max settings and still 130-299 FPS
The problem is that games "stall" because teh card goes to 2D clocks and back to 3D clocks randomly. I'm spamming ATi to fix it and because a lot ppl have complained about it, expect to see fix in Catalyst 8.4. The card worked in Crysis for a while and it was faster than 8800GTX I had (>40 FPS at all high) but then the powerplay bug kicked in and game stalled. Can't wait to play it when they fix that.
Vista SP1 is highly recommended for ATi cards let it be single or crossfire. There is big improvement in performance.

Let me put it this way: HD3870 X2 has A LOT potential when it comes to performance. All current reviews of HD3870 cards suffer from effects of powerplay bug causing really low minimum fps.

edit: btw I just tried the technology demo of DX10.1 called 'ping pong'
