My brother wants to get this laptop for college, but doesn't know if it's worth it, anyone recommend it?

Wait for the new ones with WinXp on it.  Yea you can put XP on the ones now but the new ones are better sutied for the job.

Edit: As for getting one.  I hear nothing but good things about them.  Especially if all your doing is surfing the web and checking e-mail.

I thought about getting one for a little while, but when I saw the specs, I just thought "fuck it". An 800x480px screen is nothing. I've surfed on 800x600, which is more than the Eee, and it's no pleasure.

I say, get a real laptop instead. I have an 15.4", and see no trouble carrying it around.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I beg to differ.
