An Honorable Mention For Jamil Shaw. That's all there will be now and forever, because he is dead. Shot down like a dog in the street.

The death of Jamil Shaw may well have started with Special Order 40. Special Order 40 is a police mandate that originated in 1979 by former Los Angeles Police Chief Gates and the L.A. City Council to prevent police from inquiring about the immigration status of arrestees. Funny thing is, just like Bush sold himself as a conservative Brad Gates I actually have been to his house and installed his raingutters some 20 years ago was known as a real law and order Republican gunslinger. A famous quote of his was after a reporter asked him about people who smoke pot; " I think casual drug users should be shot in the head. "
"
Seventeen-year-old Jamiel Shaw II had all the makings of a success story. The senior at Los Angeles high school was a good student and star football player who had multiple colleges interested in bringing him into their football programs...read more

Jamils death is very sad to me. It is worse because the man who killed him was released the night before from jail for handgun possession, which is a felony if concealed, or loaded without a permit. He was apparently not charged, just released. Speacial Order 40 prohibits from police running a check on their nationality, immigration status or the validity of their identification. ICE officials hassle businesses but jails are full of illegal aliens and the police can't talk to ICE about their status and as they have no identification they are ofetn times released without charges.

You guessed it. Jamil was gunned down by a illegal alien 24 hours out of jail for illegal weapons violations.
I, frankly would expect at some point the community to begin to defend themselfs.

A toast to Jamil.
Like so many this soldier died, that soldier died threads I ask that you take a minute and remember his name. And know that in the same amount of time 4000 soldiers have died in Iraq, 20000 citizens have died in America through murder and traffic death caused by illegal aliens.

Pretty fucking pathetic.

We can't even protect our own citizens by closing the border, but we can help people a world away.

Damn shame.

Jamil was gunned down by a criminal who was released without being charged for a felony - regardless the legality of his citizenship.

ICE officials do many things; hassling businesses is on the low end of the totem pole.  How many times have you been hassled for employing illegal immigrants ATG?  If ever, did you or your business get fined?  Threatened with losing your contractor's license?

Far too many events had an impact regarding this story to blame solely on illegal immigration (or the Los Angeles Police for that matter).

His death is tragic, I agree - just as tragic as death across the world everyday.

Nope, I haven't. I have purged myself of all but on illegal alien, and he is next. I'd rather be a one man operator than be a party to this madness.

Nope, aside from his promise as a human being, this story is ALL about illegal aliens, the governments treasonous lechery in facilitating them and the blind adherence to a failed system by duped citizens, otherwise smart and caring, like you who are as much a part of the problem as the small business owner employing a few illegals and paying taxes on bogus social security numbers the fuckhead politicians recognize.

Couldn't be about overcrowding of prisons (which contributed to the release from jail without being charged).

Couldn't be about the inequalities of wealth/social inequalities found in large urban areas (which contribute to gang membership).

Couldn't be the media reporting on an athlete with outstanding potential facing tragic circumstances (like bums and otherwise seemingly worthless members of society around the world face everyday).

Couldn't be about lobby groups who influence politics (in this case immigration groups in bed with LA Police brass).

No, it must be all about illegal immigration - something tangible, easily identifiable, inherently vile and absurdly unAmerican.

I'm probably one of the people on here most vocal about my opposition to the status quo and blind adherence.

I guarantee you without a doubt I am waaay less a part of the problem of illegal immigration than you, who gives incentive to illegal immigration by offering jobs to illegals.

Do you hear that humming sound in your head becoming louder yet?  It is your cognitive dissonance drowning out more and more of your critical thought processes.

Ken makes a lot of good points...   You wanna know why the Democrats don't support border security?  They want to give these people citizenship for easy votes.

You wanna know why the Republicans don't support border security?  They make too much money from illegal labor to give a shit about the long run.

In short, we're fucked until we figure out that border security is the only surefire way of preventing another 9/11.

Ken makes no good points in this case.
Jails are over crowded because of illegal aliens.
The inequalities of wealth/social in urban areas is compounded by continuing waves of illegals that never stop to think about whether there is work here or not or because it is aways better than the sewer they are born in. Subsequent waves of illegal immigrants always work for a few dollars less than the ones already here, devaluing the wages of the previous groups.
Lobby groups who influence politics in favor of illegal immigrants are traitors in a time of war and should be dealt with as such.
" I guarantee you without a doubt I am waaay less a part of the problem of illegal immigration than you, who gives incentive to illegal immigration by offering jobs to illegals "

I say, refer somebody to me who is a legal hire willing to work, apply yourself, or better yet, try running a small service business. Other than that the best response to that sentiment I got is that you can pound rocks in your ass.

To each his own, but Ken did explain quite well how the business of illegal labor connects with politics.

This will probably never happen, but this is how I would solve the problem...

1) Withdraw from Iraq.
2) Station troops along the border with a virtual fence in place.
3) Apprehend and execute all MS-13 and other drug cartel members who cross our border.
4) Deport all other illegals, and charge the Mexican government $10,000 per person.
5) Imprison all employers of illegals for a mandatory 5 years.
6) Shorten and streamline the citizenship/naturalization process so that it makes it easier for those who actually follow our laws.
7) Remove all federal subsidies and tax breaks to corporations and replace them with tax breaks for small businesses.

Should I list the major candidates I have supported?  None of them are morons, and I think only one or two have been elected, none nationally.  In fact, I thought I expressed that part of the blame lies on the LAPD for bowing to lobbyist pressure.

Jails are crowded because more people are getting locked up than ever.  Simplistic laws like 3 strikes, mandatory minimum sentencing and the lockup of nonviolent drug offenders are illegitimate causes of overcrowding.

Sure, illegal immigration is a factor, albeit not as large as you play it up to be.  Your argument on the devaluation of wages can be applied to any service performed by less-skilled workers.  Legal immigration is a cause of this as well.  International competition also is a factor.  A government complacent in this compounds the (somewhat inevitable and growing) problem.  So do businesses that support and profit from illegal employment (such as yours).

I support your position regarding lobbyists in a figurative (yet profoundly poetic) manner.

I make more than you would want to pay me.  I will talk to my little brother - I am sure I can find you willing legal residents (they may even be white too!  Double bonus ) ready to work.

To argue that you cannot function without illegal employees failing to contribute to the system is something that I might argue later.

I've never tried the rocks pounded into the ass.  Was that something you recently discovered?  I am thinking the sharp angles would hurt a little.  Perhaps you tried with some rocks from a stream bed or something that were worn down by the elements.  Either that or you've got a tough asshole ATG!
