What's your opinion on it?

Mines. It should be it's own country. This isn't like Israel, or Kosovo or anything. Those Tibetans have been there basically since recorded history began. I don't get what the Chinese government say when they say it's always been part of China. There's quite a difference between your everyday Han Chinese and a Tibetan. I don't see why they invaded in the 50's. If there's any separatist movement out there worth backing, this is the one.

I personally think it's fucked up that the Olympics are over there. Then again, the Olympics is boring and full of druggies. And is just a political tool. So I don't really care that it's in China.

I know. Really, it's the Tibetans fault for not being able to fend of the Chinese. I was about to say that in the OP, I still don't think that it should really belong to China. Perhaps I'm not really being consistent, but I reckon the Tibetans have a better case than the Palestinians do. At the end of the day. China has nukes (which rules out, outside intervention), they don't really care about ethical issues like other countries. So the chances that they will give a shit is slim. They don't even give a shit about the majority Han Chinese so the Tibetan don't have a chance.

Anyways, I think Tibet should be free. China's track record on human rights is poor to say the least, and while it'd be nice to boycott China... we borrow lots of money from them. Whichever idiot thought THAT was a good idea should be exiled... if China was feeling ballsy they could call in our debt to them and we'd be like "oh shit"

He is the opposition party candidate. Expect changes in the order of closer ties with China, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The whole situation is in need of balance.

I agree that having the Olympics in China are screwed up. The Olypics are about coming together as nations in peace and promoting peace. China is one of the most oppressing governments out there. To reward them with the honor of holding the games is a farce.

This is going to play out kind of like Darfur has. We're not going to do much, but China will act as it pleases.
