It's so hard to get into one. Took me 6 months before they let me into a plane with butter bar rank. I tell you, it's a great feeling.

I bought the game the day after it came out (damn employees don't stock shelves fast enough around here) and was able to join a server without 18800008 ping on Oman on the US side.
Everyone is a private or lance corporal. No one is rank crazy just yet. So people are having "fun." The screen is flooded with people spamming the COMMROSE as if they never had one before. People throwing medic pacs at each other...etc.
I grab the blackhawk off the Carrier and people flood into the back...I'm thinking this should be a cake walk after years of BF 1942 and BF Vietnam. I'll cap every flag and be a general by the end of the week.... ahem: cough*
My throttle at max, I ascend about 10 meters and then my chopper seems to have lost control. I start careening and swaying, eventually I'm rocketing backwards and make direct contact with the Cobra on it's way out. The screen is flooded with about 8 or so Teamkills and I nearly get autokicked for negative score.
Unlike today's BF2, I only got a few complaints of "newb," because back then everyone was a newb and I was expected to suck.
It was only then that I realized (because I fly with mouse or did then) that my helicopter controls were not INVERTED for great justice.
**Needless to say, I let other people fly me around and had a fear of ramming people for a long time while in any air unit. BF: Desert Combat chopper controls took forever for me to learn...and they didn't help in BF2. The transition was slow, but it got better and now I'm used to it.
Now ramming is a favorite past-time and I love to see people complain about my kamakaze jihad chopper, very similar to what happens at the end of "Teh Pwned Life" to the Spec-Ops guy.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think I may've shot down my first couple planes this week, I've been playing on and off for the past year + .5, with a huge 6 month break near the Fall/Winter time, and I'm pretty sure that're I never shot down any jets back then, so this week was my first(more like 3-4)
I suck at flying well im actualy good at flying but not flying AND shooting
