I run XP on my lappy. I currently have 2GB free space on my 40GB 4200RPM HD, and I've managed that in just five days. I also have 512MB RAM, which kills any gaming usage. BF2 is unplayable due to that.

So, which one should I get? I can afford one of them, but not both. I do have another computer for mainly gaming, so gaming shouldn't be the primary motivation.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

It would run even better if you had more memory. Trust me. I started playing bf2 with 512 memory then 1gb, 1.5 and now 2gb.

Hard drive. 40GB is pitiful.

My laptop has 512MB RAM and a 40GB HDD too. I'm not upgrading either, but if I were to do one, it'd be the hard drive.

It sounds from your usage scenario that it would be far more beneficial to you in terms of speed too.

Well, I've decided on HD, even though you say otherways. This computer can barely run BF2 anyhow.

40GB is nothing. Four 720p movies go on 25GB, for the sake of fuck!
