So, I the guy who always played game on consoles.  Call of Duty 4 was incredible, and some one told me Battlefield 2 was better.  So naturally I get the game and suck with a keyboard and mouse.  Some one else says that Microsoft makes a X-Box 360 controller for windows.  I buy it becuase I suck with a mouse and keyboard, remember?

My problem is Battlefield 2, with all the booster and expansion packs, will not recognize the Z azis triggers nor the X axis right joystick.  The right joystick is the reason I bought the controller in the first place!  I have updated to the 1.41 patch, a couple of times to be sure, made sure the controller drivers are updated and even calibrated the controller in windows using these instructions.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/906300

Someone please HELP!  Please don't tell me this controller is not compatible with Battlefield 2.

BF2 has so many controls, that it would be extremely hard to map them all to a controller, even if you did get all the axses working. So I think you might need to get used to the Keyboard & Mouse. It's not that hard, I used to be a console only player aswell.

To get used to it better, play Single Player as much as you think you need too, and play kits like Medic or Support that are strong in any circumstance. Your last port of call should be Sniper, because online play requires good co-ordination and knowledge of the keyboard, as Snipers have to hop around and move fast to stay alive. Let me know how it goes!

I know I can't get all the buttons mapped, but I did manage to get all the important ones mapped.  There will be times when need to use the keyboard, yes, but I bought the thing and I want it to work.

Thanks for the suggestions anyway!  I do like the medic and AT.

Well after some more thorough searching it looks as if the dual analog controller isn't supported in BF2.  At least not the 2nd analog.  I understand that many of you think PC games should be played on Keyboard and Mouse only, and that I will just die faster with a game pad, but I would like to get my controller working regardless.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Well, if my controller won't work, can anyone suggest a good all-around mouse that doesn't cost $70.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

OK, so I'm officially a PC gamer now.  I bought the Mx518.  Anybody have a server they want a team oriented player on.  I haven't found one yet.

I find LegionAtWar to be pretty good. I play there a lot, hardcore players. Runs most vanilla maps, all vehicles. I get a good ping because the server's near me.

*TA* is good as well. The servers are based in Texas again, so I get a ping of 20. http://ta-gaming.com/index.php

lol, you don't really need to go buy a new mouse to play games, but oh well that one is not too much, and if you didn't have the extra buttons on your old one the side buttons are nice.

It is good that you just went with a mouse though, just so much better for FPS once you get used to it.

While we are on the subject though...is it a wireless?

If I have a computer with blue tooth, and wireless networking can I use a wireless 360 controller without having to plug anything into the computer?
I want it for racing on my laptop when I cant use my wheel.

Vanilla maps and all vehicles sounds good to me.  I'll check LegionatWat out.  Maybe Friday. I'm in Texas as well, so  *TA* should work good also.

The reason I decided to get a controller in the first place is my mouse sucks for gaming and I'm used to controllers, so if this controller won't work right then I needed a better mouse.

And yes the 360 controller is wireless.  Not Bluetooth though, USB.

Thanks for the input!

Well the 360 controller comes in bother wired, and wireless. Thats not what I was asking though.

Anyone know if I bought a wireless 360 controller would my laptop be able to use it with out any USB connectors, or is the signal used by the controller not any standard recognized by bluetooth/wireless enabled laptops.

better make sure you axis button centers properly, or your crosshairs will never center. they will stay wide and your accuracy will be shit
