ive been sub contracting for a while now and never seemed to resolve this issue. The green shit from the brass/copper weatherstripping that is transferred to the edge of the door. (edit: just had an oxidation fact come up, and the green is from air/moisture passing through.)

How/What the fuck makes it stop doing that?

A fat coat of paint only helps for like 2 weeks, then the door edge turns green again.

This is almost a D&ST topic because its seriously important. if i fix this (afaik)issue. I will be able to do MORE work from these homeowners that are both doctors. big money ensues, and if i can fix this issue(better than anyone else) they wont hunt for a lower price, and always come back to me(us).

So, if you know anything about the stripping itself or brass/copper properties against painted surfaces please help me out. the effect of shutting the door and ideas to counteract it(the "greening") would be awesome.

The best primer to use for copper/brass is zinc chromate. If you wish to seal it before painting try applying this first.
You can also tell your clients to pick up their feet as they cross the threshold as wear and tear is wear and tear. Also, the off the shelf brass thresholds have a coat of oil left over from the press. Scratch the surface with fine steel wool or clean it with KleanKing soap and fine scotchbrite before applying the primer.

The other alternative may be to swap out the brass for aluminum?

MMMKAY.

Why not sell a quality job? Figure it out.
I work with copper everyday. I answered your question and you come back with a " im gonna try sum awesomeness as ive already showed em. i should be able to pull sum shit that will last a week or two. ill give a taillight warranty tho. "

actually, is what im saying, is that i wont able to permanently fix the shit without replacing the stripping(which btw, isnt my job).

thats the only thing i would ever issue that wrranty on. everything i do/have done is epic. i was tryin to find sumthing that would get rid of the "greening" maybe like 'vaseline. wd40. oil' . u gave me the option of painting it(which was my fault for wording issues) then said to replace. im sry if i was rash in assuming that u didnt know shit about what i was talking about.

i have that type of stripping around one door in my house, can't wait to be rid of it.
negative on wd40, fine now, but twice as bad 2 weeks later

If you want it to not oxidize use Incralac.

He speaks like a true quality professional

Aluminum is the answer, and if they want brass, explain to them why aluminum is a better choice. That's what professionals do..

Okay, after reading the op a few times I understand better. The oxidization from the brass is staining the wood.

Use Minutewax paste wax, like for hardwood floors.

Rub some on the wood next to the brass. Buff it off. Solved.
