And even if that was what you meant, it's a blatant lie, as very few schools have a 50% dropout rate. The fact is, you out source because you make more profit for your shareholders, which is fine until it gets to where it's part of a systemic failure. I guess what you are saying would be a good thing if it led to a real debate on the impact of illegal aliens on the economy, but it won't, not yet.

It's much easier to blame the evil corporations.

Very few schools have a 50% drop out rate you say? When the national drop out rate is 1/3, that couldn't be more wrong. Detroit at nearly 88% drop out rate, Baltimore, New york, Milwaukee, Cleveland, all have drop out rates higher than 50%, just to name a few.

The Mexicans are more concerned about getting their girlfriend pregnant than getting an education.  I don't remember the last time I saw a Latino female, age 18-20 that didn't already have one or more children, or wasn't currently pregnant.

ATG - is the graph you showed the dropout rate or the number of people working at a given school? Because I thought it was the dropout rate, but Lotta_Drool's statement confused me.

Stats from my graduating class, ultra-right wing Christian bible-belt public high school in Kansas -

52 Females graduating, 57 Males
3 drop-outs total, 2 males, 1 female (stoners!)
1 lone black kid (our basketball star, so nobody minded much), rest were white.
99% were sworn Christians and their families belonged to one of three evangelical baptist (or Nazerene) churches in the town.  No jews, no catholics.

Of the 52 girls graduating...
22 had already had at least 1 child throughout their high school career.
5 were pregnant at the time of the graduation ceremony, 1 of those was pregnant with her 3rd kid.

Median income for the town, $44,000/household in 1995.  These were solid middle class kids generally in small town USA.

Sex education in school was by parental permission only, and taught only as a 2 week block in AP Anatomy class.  Even then it was basic "birds and bees" in clinical terms.  No practical knowledge of birth control or STD protection was taught, ever.

It isn't a "hispanic problem," I've always known it as an ignorant redneck Christian problem.

This chart makes me proud to live in New York State.  At least 3 out of every 10 students that walks into a high school will drop out.  At least 3...  That's just sad.
