Wait.... does this mean I can get CrossfireX for really cheap?
I have waited this ATi's new comeback for a long time now. Now that they got the driver issues sorted out (I have pre-release Catalyst 8.4 and it is awsome) they are really pushing nVIDIA. It has been around for a while now that nVIDIA has nothing to counter this RV770 rech release atm. This will really make some action on the green camp since their g92 die shrink isn't even released yet. And that just can't beat the new RV770 because of low number of shader processors.kylef wrote:

ATi HD 3850 and HD 3870 prices will drop to low end range when these ones are released. Imagive hot much better HD3850 at <$100 is than some piece of crap older generation low-end cards.
nVIDIA is using even older tech atm... based on G80... ATi did some bigger changes with R600 -> RV670Bell wrote:
Not to dampen all this, but, wouldnt this be the third incarnation of this chip desing?
I mean we had 2900XT (R600) > 3850/70 (R670) > 4870 (R770).
Which, I mean, from my point of view, I would like to see some real new tech. With that said though, a highly polished card, shouldnt have much in the way of driver trouble, not much excuse for teething issues.

Not disputing what nvidia is doing. My point was specifically to do with ATI.GC_PaNzerFIN wrote:

but that will soon drop alot...RDMC wrote:
Wow 300 dollars for the 4870 (175 euros), thats is quiet cheap! The current HD3870 costs around 170 atm
I am sure it will, but just look at the difference with nVidia. Ati releases a new series and it has around the same prices as the previous series, but when nVidia launches a new series they are instantly 150+ dollars more expensive. Go Ati ^ ^Little BaBy JESUS wrote:

they sell it for 300 euros just as easily. seeing in the US a 3870X2 = 440 dollars and here 389 euros.RDMC wrote:

Absolutely true. I am not expecting the 4870 to be 180 euros. They will probably make it 250 to start with. As they allways do, just as with the 9800GX2, which is $800 dollars when you convert it to dollars. But still the idea of ATI making their new series as cheap/expensive whatever suits you best is a good one^*AlphA*^ wrote:
