They really aren't our choices. The populous only gets to choose from the lesser of who cares, in most cases. Following this formula there will most probably be worse choices on the horizon.Turquoise wrote:

You know, our soldiers knew what they were signing up for when they enlisted. But at 4000 dead, I'm really not laughing anymore.madmurre wrote:

With all respect that´s completely irrelavant as you said soldiers know what they sign for, then i´m not from over there i have a easier time smiling when i see Bush ( he sure is/look like a sort of funny guy imo )CloakedStarship wrote:

Bush smiling makes me completely forget all the lives wasted in the wasteland that is Iraq. We don't need to be there, they don't need to be dieing there. But yes, thank god Bush can still smile, despite all the shit hes landed us in.madmurre wrote:

Apparently not. I was referring to the possibility of death during service. But alas, this is relevant, as they may have to face the same death, again. And then we're back at the whole, why are we in Iraq in the first place deal.ATG wrote:

He´s a politican that´s what they do.
@ATG got the impression you were responding to me; stop-loss is crap but so is life sometimes i´m sure it was hidden behind the lines somewhere not making it morally right but unfortunately by the law.

In all fairness, I don't think he landed us in anything. It how he landed in what was handed to him that matters.CloakedStarship wrote:

" Contractors " are running mad in Iraq, getting paid four times or more what the soldiers are making. I doubt a lot of the soldiers who signed up knew that they would bumping elbows with American hired mercenaries.
I could literally spend hours defining the many levels of the failure of Bush.
The GWOT was an excuse to explode spending, power and military might. That will forever be his legacy.
7 1/2 years ago I remember asking someone, "what's the worst that could happen?"
Jesus H. Christ.
He has surpassed all measure.

The behavior of George Bush, his idiotic statements, the tax cuts WHILE exploding NON militaryspending, the open borders...actually...make you wonder about some of the 9-11 conspiracies. His administration was hell bent on war.Reciprocity wrote:

The fact they had the attack-plans ready for Iraq before elections speaks for em self.
Its a shame that nobody could have foreseen the quagmire we are in. Honestly, I think there has been a massive failure in the system if we're employing mercenaries.Quote Pyramid wrote:

And really, of the three countries we were worried about having WMD's, I would have to say that Iran and North Korea were probably bigger threats. But thank god he chose the middle east so we could get fucked in the ass by suicide bombers left and right. But then again... oh god I just can't logically deduce what the right thing to do was, things, now and then, are and were so fucked up.
Oh, tax cuts + massive increase in spending = oops, o hay debt wassup. True.

This picture was taken right as he was saying " don't do it you douche bag. "

Cheney knew what was up. He even described invading Iraq and toppling Saddam as a quagmire back in 1994 during an interview with the American Enterprise Institute when he was asked why the first Bush didn't remove Saddam from power. He described quite clearly that a conflict would arise between the 3 major ethnic groups.
The youtube clip of this has been posted before, but I'll look it up again for shits and giggles.
Either way, Cheney expected this to be a mess. I think that was the intention. The more of a mess it becomes, the easier it is to justify that contractors remain in Iraq with the soldiers so that tons of money can be made for companies like Halliburton.
Also, the more turmoil there is in the Middle East, the more oil goes up in price.

Exactly - The military-industrial complex has now usurped democracy.her way, Cheney expected this to be a mess. I think that was the intention. Citizens are only required to consume fast food, drive the least fuel efficient cars they can be convinced to buy and pay taxes.
And produce offspring for the next wave.

Fuck Israel
That's pretty optimistic, considering how simple it would be to do assuming you could get hold of a nuke.FEOS wrote:
Never.
Even a dirty bomb would be straighforward.
Either could be sailed in in a reasonably sized yacht or trawler.
Simplest would be stick it in a shipping container.

I wasn't referring to a nuke going off. I was referring to the other part of the question.Dilbert_X wrote:

No. It doesn't. We have "attack plans" (they are called operations plans or OPLANS) for just about every problem country/area worldwide. There was one for Iraq before Iraq invaded Kuwait. There are multiple others. Their existence speaks for nothing other than contingency preparation.madmurre wrote:

We might have one for the defense of Canada, but I don't know for sure.
