Hamas is like a living example of why you have two choices when dealing with an ethnic group you're fighting with.

1. Make a truce and livable conditions with the people you're fighting.

2. Kill every last one of them.

Now, before I'm flamed, I'm not suggesting Israel take the second option.  I'm just saying that caging people like a collection of rabid animals in small shitty pieces of land is a very bad idea.  You only breed hate and anger that way, and then groups like Hamas are the result.  In a practical sense, it's better to just kill them off than to continue this current nonsense.

This is why option #1 is the only real choice Israel has.  If they went with option #2, they'd basically start WW3.

I was suggesting that option #1 is the only real choice Israel has.

Their current policy is, in practical terms, even less desirable than option #2, because it just festers hate.  I was using that as a foil for how a truce is the optimal choice.

How does that make me a Nazi?

I am not flaming you, but there shouldn't be option two.

The only reason #2 is there is because it has a historical context.  The conflict in Israel is nothing new.  Plenty of previous ethnic conflicts involved either a truce or genocide.  The only new thing about the Israel-Palestine conflict is that Israel is apparently too stupid to realize that keeping people in desperation is a great way to breed enemies.

The first part of your post has substance, so I'll overlook the second part.

I see what you're getting at, but again, we've discussed before your resentment of the nature of this.  More often than not, it is the people behind a desk and safe at home that get to decide who lives and who dies, but that's just life.  I guess, as you said before, I'm not that different from the military industrial complex in my mindset because of this distance from conflict.

Still, the question I always have is...  what good does this endless conflict do?  Israel must be masochistic to keep itself stuck in this stalemate.  Powerful countries like the U.S. are trying very hard to end this conflict, and Clinton almost succeeded.  It was an Israeli that killed Rabin, not a Palestinian.

Because of that, I really hold no hope for a truce between these two groups, which is part of why I mentioned the second option.  I have a feeling Israel might eventually make it.
