hi,

i used to play battlefield 2 at high setting on this computer:
p4 3.00ghz with hyper threading
7200gs 256mb
1.5gb ram
but i formattted about 4 months ago and then it totally went down.
the game started lagging and stuf eeven at low setting it lags.
i think i have all the same drivers installed.
but it lags.
now i tought if i formatted again it would be over.
but wrong again. its still slow.
i think its my cpu's fault because when
i check the inactive amount it fluctuates between 0 and 20.
dont know why..
but it coul olso be my graph card.

Well, BF2 at high on a 7200 is simply a lie. A 7600GS can barely run BF2 maxed (with AA), and a 7300GT barely runs it fine on medium without AA.

Anyhow, get the latest drivers for everything, especially the graphics card. Also check that all fans are working and not clogged with dust.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Then you changed something in your setup vs. where it was originally.  Be it paging files, folder architecture, drivers, etc.

I had a old computer with the 2 gigs of RAM, the same processor and a 6800 Ultra and I ran BF2 maxed with 4xAA.

I'd say it's the graphics card, but I'm probably wrong.

It is as impossible to run BF2 all high AA with a 7200 as it is to divide by zero.

I can also call bs on him as my dad has a very similar setup with a 7600gt and he had to play with med/low settings with no aa @ 1280x1024. A 7300gt can play at those settings freezer if you like slide shows.

I doubt you are any good when you were on the setup having to look at the sky all the time and considering the odds of someone parachuting right in front of you to get enough frames to kill him.

It's system specific. Besides Freezer's OC'd 7600GS probably outperforms 7600GT

If that is true, his CPU either sucks ass, the computer is full of shitware or very poorly configured. I run BF2 maxed, avereging 60FPS at all times, including 4x or 8x AA. I have also had a 7300GT 64/256MB card which performed BF2 maxed without AA at a steady 25-40FPS. The 7300 is broken now, but I've got all the measures it takes to prove my point with my 7600GS.

Given the fact that a 6800Ultra is right between th 7600GS and GT, with the only real difference being lack of HDR support and a 2x64bit bus instead of 128bit, the only thing that would make it suffer is insane AA. The 6800Ultra is a very powerful card. It's called Ultra for a reason.

Well, that explains some things.

Make sure that:

- You don't have any malware
- Unless you're super leet, have got proper antivirus
- Don't have any "Unknown device"s in Control panel\System\Device manager
- You have the latest drivers (And official drivers) for everything.
- Your hard drive is defragmented
- There are no heat issues like clogged fans or loose heatsinks

Call back when you've checked those.
