So I have three job interviews this week (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday). They are all with corporate aviation companies. So my question is for those of you who may live near Weymouth, MA or Bridgeport, CT.......... what places should I avoid when choosing a home? I go on apartments.com and rent.com to see what the prices are, but I have no idea what the area is like. And I would like to keep my commute under and hour if possible. Thank you in advance.
I live 14 miles from Bridgeport (from across the Sound). A very nice town, but has some crime in it. Not really a place where you'd like. It's very...urban. Their hockey team (The Islanders affiliate) the Sound Tigers are really fun to watch if you're ever bored after work, though.
Fairfield, Connecticut is an EXTREMELY nice place to live. My mom and I were actually planning on living there, but the plans fell through. It's like 5 mins from Bridgeport.

The ferry from Bridgeport is also really convenient if you ever wanna come to the Island to go to the Hamptons or something. Port Jefferson/Bridgeport ferry:

A very relaxing 1 hour 30 minute ride.

Thing I learned while driving through Connecticut:
They can't drive for shit. I mean, it's really bad, so watch out.

not as bad as mass.heggs wrote:

I can help you with the Massachusetts part, I'm familiar with parts of CT, also.
Weymouth is an okay place. Actually, all the towns surrounding it are about the same. They're okay but there's much better places close by. That whole area is part of the South Shore and traffic there is a bitch, a lot of the people that work in downtown Boston commute from there. Milton and Hanson are close and nicer. Make sure you stay out of Brockton at all costs.
Weymouth, Braintree, Randolph are all nice places but have their areas that are a bit on the poorer side. Not really ghetto but more urban. Quincy is okay but I wouldn't live there.

You're right, they're both pretty bad. I mean, I suppose I can't talk much, being from NY and all. But I don't think it's an issue of us being bad drivers, just that we can be aggressive and rude sometimes.Docjones wrote:

well I will agree with that.heggs wrote:

I've been reading a few little blurbs about the airline industry and the increasing foreign competition due to the fall of the dollar. Hope you find something stable.
Okay, I live in Redding, CT, and used to live in Norwalk, CT (about 20 minutes from B-port). Bridgeport is crime-ridden. Don't live there.Poseidon wrote:

Surrounding towns:
Fairfield - nice place, mid range pretty much, suburban. nice town, as i said.
Stratford - not a very nice place, lower class, a little like a small Bridgeport itself.
Trumbull - see Fairfield, but a little lower class. there's a big mall there.
Milford - kinda like Trumbull I guess.
Easton - like Trumbull/Fairfield, one long ass road going through it, mid-upper class, but still suburban in places. shares Joel Barlow HS with Redding.
Weston - expensive, higher class society. big lots, trees, and kinda snotty people.
Wilton - my cousin lives there. a little lower class than Weston (cheaper) but nice people for the most part. good schools i think.
Monroe - see Trumbull. nice lake (@ Wolfe Park).
Ridgefield - see Wilton; a little more suburban near the town center.
Redding - IMO the best town there is. nice people, great school. Mutant and I live here . but it can be costly. 2nd highest living cost in the area pretty much (below Weston).
Fuck you, soccer moms from Stratford don't count.heggs wrote:

"people in ny have a general idea of how to drive. one of the pedals goes forward the other one prevents you from dying"
You don't have to tell me Our President and VP of operations have both resigned in the past two weeks. I will just take my ass back to Netjets.....about as secure as it comes. Time for me to put the inner entrepreneur to sleep.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:
