BF2S Forums When do you think EA will dump stat server support for BF2?

On a related thing:
The other day I was looking at the box of "Hellgate London" and I found a small note on the back that EA Games reserves the right to discontinue all online play features 30 days after an announcement on the game webpage.
Sneaky.

I bet one would have tremendous fun when buying the game only to find it disabled shortly after.
Or even better, coming home, installing the game and getting a message like "Sorry, online play has been disabled 5 minutes ago".

to answer your question: in this sick ass world where everything goes to crap, you got to believe in something. Some of my friends are muslim, some are jewish, some are catholic, buddist , and so on.


in terms of stats: it would be a miracle if they keep the stats for BF2  for another year.

i see like one hacker a month at the most. the only thing being "hacked" is the leaderboard

I'm waiting for BF3 now. I hope there will be no stats.

Before I used to play Aliens vs Predator 2 for many years and I thought that was great, but then all people I knew stopped playing it so it died for me . I spent probably 4k hours with it and I was more than decent player. I enjoyed every minute of that game. No shitty stats.

BF2 with all those crappy patches, inaccurate weapons and other shit WAS a good game. It had to be as I spent 2k hours with it. It was not as exciting and fast as AvP2 but  then there was no alternative for me. With time I got used to using vehicles but still I'm infantry player. But all those stats are only for EA to make money (ranked servers). Stats affect peoples behaviours and that annoys me the most.

There are around 2400+ ranked servers for BF2. I'm not too sure what the going rate is to host a server but even if it's $25 a month minimum. So that is 60K a month. If that turns a profit what reason is there to discontinue ranked servers?

So what if we can't play on ranked servers anyway?

Personally I hope they don't stop the stats service before I have reached a global score of 50,000 and get my last two unlocks.
Kind of having played through the game at least one time.
