Why NOT buy the "European or Asian studpiece"? Price. You can get a Mustang for pretty cheap, imports are not. Just like the new G8 - Looks like a tank but runs 13.5's.
Not to mention that the 5.0 liter in the Mustang (fbods) is an incredibly easy motor to work on and mod, making it a cheap drag car. You can make a 'Stang incredibly fast with only an HCI swap, which is possible for less than a grand. On a Vette that would cost way more, and the results wouldn't be as dramatic.
It's just because the Mustangs are so cheap that you see them 'puttering around with different colored doors'. Nothing wrong with them, other than the tonnage as of late.
I'd take either car in a heartbeat - Going back to the Fox-Bodies for the Mustang and the C5 for the 'Vette.
Chevy doesn't put out a nice looking fast car unless you got a shit load of money. Mustangs are cheap, look decent, go fast, lots of availible mods and parts everywhere.
Camaros look are ok, but the door panels are ugly as fuck and the doors are so big its retarded..
The 67-70 Camaros are the best looking cars out there, but they're expensive...
Newer Corvettes are a better quality car, so you pay more.
I think 99 and up Corvettes are 50/50 weight ratio, one of the things you dont get in the Mustangs.
