If HIV was preventable, I am pretty sure it would have been prevented, just like a cold, if it were preventable I am pretty sure people would opt to prevent it. Just a guess though. Anyway, you are generalizing by saying HIV is preventable and suggest that people that get it are at fault.

Granted the US education system requires more funding, but wake up to yourself. The money that should have gone to essential services hasn't been diverted to fighting aids, it's been poured into the military.

Here's the thing about [insert current deadly incurable disease here].  If we cure it, something else WILL come along.  This is not theory or abstract thought.  This is historical fact.  Look at the history of our race.  We are at the top of our food chain.  We have no natural predators except jaws and kittens with sniper rifles.  And Hilary Clinton.  All that aside, the only things keeping us in check are disease, attrition and war.  These are high level categories, naturally, but everything really falls into one of these categories.  This is simple Malthusian Thoery.  We have to have something keeping us in check or we'll reproduce beyond our capacity to support ourselves.

AIDS is really one of the more individually controllable of the current deadly incurable diseases.  Don't share needles, don't screw that which you are unable to see how it has been screwn.  Yes, there are exceptions and so help me God if someone says, "Ryan White" ...

Personally, I say don't cure them.  They are managable now and necessary.  If we cure them, something else much worse will take it's place.  Watch and see.  I literally watched my grandmother die of cancer, and have lost others as well.  I don't say these things out of ignorance or an inability to empathize with losing someone "unnecessarily".  Admittedly, I have not known anyone with AIDS, but does it really matter WHICH deadly incurable disease a loved one dies from?

Like it or not, we are animals.  No matter how much we try to elevate ourselves, we are part of the ecosystem and will continue to be a function of it.
