She just started taking it almost a month ago now...

A few questions..

She currently has her period.. and from what I read, after she's done with that we can start to have sex without a condom?

Some people say you only have to wait like 7 days after starting to take it and your fully protected.. others say after 1 full cycle.. and still others say you should wait like 2 months just to be safe.

Whats the safe amount of time, because I don't really feel like getting her pregnant..

She's usually really good at taking it, but what happens if she misses taking it one day.. or forgets to take it when shes suppose to and takes it a few hours later.. Is it still safe to have sex that day?

Also.. during her period the pills aren't Birth control but just like.. sugar pills or something right? If she forgets to take it, shes fine right?

I know I'm gonna be paranoid as hell the first time without a condom..

The problem with the pill is that she needs to take it at the same time everyday and never forget.  Ever.  It loses effectiveness if she forgets.  Even when she is on the pill, you should probably still use a condom.

As far as I know, if you forget to take it one day, the protection is severely reduced for the rest of the month.  Have her get the shot or an IUD if you want sex with no condom.  Otherwise, you both take a large risk.

She never forgets.. but the time she takes it can vary..

Pills = Birth Control

Condom = STI Protection

Yes, during her period they give her Placebo pills, to keep her continuing a pill-taking routine.

There is no "safe amount of time".  The pill merely reduces the chances ... if you don't feel like getting her pregnant (that is, if you aren't prepared to be a father) then don't have sex.

It is Russian Roulette ... you will have a 1 in 20 chance of getting her pregnant while she's on the pill.

I've known two couples who've become pregnant on the pill ... I even knew another couple who became pregnant after a doctor and a specialist told them it was impossible to become pregnant (they eventually had 4 kids).  The human body is not always predictable.

The chances of getting Pregnant while having sex with a condom is higher then with Birth Control...

There's always a risk of getting her pregnant, but even unprotected it's actually very low.

How many couples do you know who got pregnant easily within even a few weeks? Not alot right.

It's your choice, there's always a risk but tbh, it's worth it for doing it without, it's a lot better.

There's a small chance like with anything. There's a chance that when you go out today and drive to work you could get hit by another Car...

Remind her everyday with a text or whatever. Then if all else fails. Falcon Punch.

Which the same can be said with all types of Birth Control...

I know there is some type of risk involved, I just want to know when the pill will be as effective as its going to be...

Her mom usually reminds her in the morning.. I've reminded her a few times when I've slept over and stuff..

She should just set an alarm on her phone or something.. Or I could text her every morning when I get up, but I'm always up an hour earlier then her.

Oh ya..

Her mom was the one that put her on the pill..

She drove her mom to the doctor one day.. came in with her.. and then her mom was just like "Do you think it would be a good idea for Lindsey to go on Birthcontrol"?

.. and I guess it was

Her mom doesn't care.. shes walked in on us naked, found lube, found condoms, seen her buy Lingerie etc, and then put it on and go to my house.

My parents know too.. they found rubbers in the wash.. had a nice awkward conversation with my dad about that one..

neways.. I gotta go pick her up from school..

I guess my point I'm trying to make is that you are living in a fantasy world when you (a) ask a question about maximum effectiveness combined with (b) that you don't want her to get pregnant.

I mean ... I lived in that fantasy world as well ...

The first step in having sex is to make sure that you are prepared to have a baby, and that you both agree on what will happen should that event occur.  Because the chances of it happening are not minute as so many fantasize, and that baby will DRAMATICALLY alter your life.

The Pill wrote:

How Well Does It Work?
Over the course of 1 year, 5 to 8 out of 100 typical couples who rely on the Pill to prevent pregnancy will have an accidental pregnancy. Of course, this is an average figure and the chance of getting pregnant depends on whether you take your birth control pills every day. The Pill is an effective form of birth control, but even missing 1 day increases the chance of getting pregnant.

In general, how well each type of birth control method works depends on a lot of things. These include whether a person has any health conditions or is taking any medications or herbal supplements that might interfere with its use. For example, antibiotics or an herb like St. John's wort can interfere with the effectiveness of the Pill.

How well a particular method of birth control works also depends on whether the method chosen is convenient — and whether the person remembers to use it correctly all the time.

Condoms wrote:

How Well Does It Work?
Over the course of 1 year, 15 out of 100 typical couples who rely on male condoms alone to prevent pregnancy will have an accidental pregnancy. The use of the female condom is a little less reliable and 21 out of 100 couples will have an unintended pregnancy.

Of course, these are average figures and the chance of getting pregnant depends on whether you use this method correctly and every time you have sex. In fact studies show that, although it's possible for condoms to break or slip during intercourse, the most common reason that condoms "fail" is that the couple fails to use one at all.
That sounds about right.  These things rely on consistency.  Accidents do happen (like forgetting to take a pill, problem with the condom, etc...) and with such a life altering consequence, it would seem foolish to not protect yourselves as much as possible.  If you really want to have sex without a condom, have her get an IUD.  <1% of people get accidental pregnancies with those.

The best bet is to KNOW THE PILL she is on.

Some Pills are designed to be strong with the hormones, making a one day miss, while not good, still effective as long as the next day the pill is resumed.

Some Pills are also designed that you don't have to be exact on the time to take them.  Others, you have to land on the correct time per day, within the HOUR.

Also, know her habits, smoking, meds, etc.  All of these can affect SOME type4s of Birth Control.

and for the love of god- IF SHE IS ON ANY ANY ANTIBIOTICS, IT WILL MORE THAN LIKELY NULL THE BIRTH CONTROL PILL

I know a few girls who all got knocked up, just because they didn't know that birth Control is ruined when taking Antibiotics.

The best way to feel safe, other than rubbers or abstinence, is to know WHAT PILL she is on and research research research.  This is something you obviously don't want to fuck up on.  Sometimes, sorry to stereotype, girls can omit key facts and important points (my female friends who are parents now).
