It's a neat IM client that supports multiple IM systems. MSN, AIM, Yahoo!, GTalk, ICQ, and Jabber. It also notifies you of e-mail (GMail, Hotmail/Live Mail, Yahoo!, POP and IMAP, and AOL). And it can notify you of Facebook things.

It's got a nice interface and just works well. I recommend it

I use Trillian Pro tbh. Not sure if they have the FB thing though, but my email notifies me of that anyway.

I've heard pretty good things about Digsby, and like what I've seen. I haven't used it myself as I use Pidgin and haven't found a reason to switch, though keep them both in mind if you're looking for something else. I prefer the simplistic nature of these two.

Meh, MSN messenger and AIM 6 is good enough for me.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
