Fire crews this morning rescued a horse which had fallen into a swimming pool in South East Cornwall.

Crews from Callington, Bodmin and St Austell were called to a property in Albaston near Gunnislake at 9.20am where a horse was stuck in the shallow end of a pool.

They used portable pumps to empty the water. A farmer provided bales which were placed so that the horse could be helped from the pool.

A fire service spokesman said they were called to the house by the horse's owner.

The spokeswoman said: "The pool measured approximately ten metres by five metres and at its deepest was approximately two metres deep, but the horse was standing in the shallow end of the pool and the water was up to his stomach.

"A vet was in attendance to ensure the welfare of the horse. It released safe and well, and left with his owner."

when you live in an area like that, thats top news stories lol

other ones are
"cow stuck in cattle grid" (always fun reading that in the news)
and
"Pheasant causes car crash" (this happened near me, someone hit a pheasant on a blind corner, got out of their car to look at it, a guy on a motorbike had to swerve out of the guys way, cos he was standing in the road (stupid idiot), the motorcyclist then goes head-on into a oncoming car)

I guess the owner of the horse now realizes that horses aren't good at water polo.

A sport.

Or a mint.

In this case the sport.
