Huge problem with my Razor DeathAdder mouse!!

Hi!
Please help me, I have a Razor DeathAdder mouse, My OS is WinXP SP2. Everything was fine, I had the mouse running, the drivers installed. I decided to create a second profile for the mouse with lower setting on everything. While I was doing that and when I clicked Apply, the mouse died! it stopped responding.
I restarted the PC - DeathAdder is still dead. I try to install the drivers again, and it seems that they install (I have to do this with only the keyboard, 'cause the mouse is dead), but after restart they are not there! WHy are the drivers not installing?
Why is my mouse dead? It won't mouse! It shines in strange way and is not responding, even if I try to re-install and re-plug it! Help!

It looks dead but its not. Go to their web page and find firmware update instructions. Do the same as the instructions say except don't upgrade firmware. You will need to do a sequence of steps: unplug the mouse, wait for xx seconds plug it back in, press the reset button on the mouse, etc...

You don't have a button on the bottom of the mouse? My Copperhead has it. Its for reseting the mouse to factory settings.

hm, the strange thing is that when I plug the mouse (pc turned off) and then when WIn XP starts, the mouse is completely dead, the cursor is not moving.

My Razor driver is 1.07. It says now "no mouse detected" even though it is plugged. I think it wold be better to install firmmave 1.10? not 1.21?

ops, it won't install firmware 1.10, cause it is the same as the current one. Looks like I'll have to apply the 1.21, but what worries me is that I have an ASUS mobo and the Razer site says of problems with flashing under such mobos....

Install firmware 1.27, install driver v1.08 (or higher if there is one) first tho.

My mouse is still dead! I installed driver 1.08 and I try to install firmware 1.25, but I can't!
"Firmware update failed!" Why's that?

Have you tried to plug it in in a different usb port?

I think I already did that, will try again!
But it looks like there is a hardware problem with the mouse, 'cause today I took it to another PC and it failed to work on it in exactly the same way!
Looks like it needs repair - if that's possible at all. If not, I will buy a new mouse

So your mouse doesn't have a reset button on the bottom? Cause my mouse was also dead and i fixed it with pluging/unpluging/reseting it.

There is 1 buton there, but it says that it's for changing the profilesm you can cycle through the 5 profiles with it. And if I press it now nothing seems to happen!
I will take the mouse to the shop tomorrow and tell them that it needs repair/replacement. There's no more I can do, really. (the mouse acted as dead on the other PC too, as I said).

But, I thank you for your help, Sup and TheEternalPessimist - I really appreciate it Karma for you.

If I end up buying a new mouse, what Razor product would you recommend? (better than this one?)

Death Adder is probably their best, you've just been a bit unlucky, that or the Lachesis, the Diamondback 3G is also very very good.

BTW hold the button on the bottom down for 10 seconds or so to reset it.

While it's plugged in and turned on.

EDIT: Think it might be 15 seconds not 10, it is for my mouse anyway.

Try and do this:
1. Unplug the mouse from PC,
2. Locate the profile button on the bottom of the mouse,
3. Press and hold it down WITHOUT RELEASING IT and plug the mouse into the USB port.

Mines done this, wont work in any usb ports in my pc but works on any other pc even with no drivers or firmware installed.
