Look how much the stuttering fix boosted HD3870x2 performance against its competitor in the same price range... the 9800GTX

well... good for me I would say...

From the day we realize the basic spec of the 9800GTX, we do not have any hope of its improvement. It still using G92’s core, did not have any noticeable improvement compare to 8800GTS 512MB.

We don’t recommend anyone to buy this product. If you really want to buy it, purchase an 8800GTS 512MB instead. When you pay for more than 20%, the only thing you can get is one more MIO connector.

In NVIDIA’s plan, 9800GTX will take over 8800GTX’s seat and fight against HD 3870X2. But as you can see in our test, the performance gap is huge. So 9800GTX’s unveiling won’t affect HD 3870X2’s market. This is the first part of our 9800GTX review. After a short time we will post the second part: the 3-Way SLI.

I'll wait for a single card that can outperform my 8800GTS G92 SLI setup.

How does triple SLI 8800GTXs compare to HD3870X2s in Crossfire? I reckon they're a similar price (just checked, they are virtually identical price)

That's what I'd be interested to see.

The 9800 cards all seem a bit shit.

How does the 9800GTX stand against the 8800GTX? Because the 8800GTX is $786 and the 9800GTX is $500 here....

This is one of the reviewers on newegg for the 3870x2

Pros: Wow, where do I begin. Fast, sexy, & quiet fan. What alse can I ask for??? No problems installing it!!! No fan problems. Free Company of Heroes.
Cons: More satisfaction than being married!!! Except for the nightly activities of course!

Got a little laugh out of it.

From a bang for buck perspective that's good too see, however I still find it pathetic on ATi's part that they have to stick two cards together to get even similar performance to NVidia's last series of cards. Not that NVidia were doing anything right this time around. *sigh*

EDIT: And actually, looking at prices things aren't really in ATi's favour; cheapest I can get an 3870X2 is 250 pounds, whereas I can get a 9800GTS for 205. The ATi isn't that much faster that I'd spend another 45 quid on it.

Or I could get an 8800GTS for 150... hmmmm...

Its probable around 75-90% of a 8800gtx. I havent found a review yet. But look how well a 9800gtx works in sli.

I have never seen such high percentage in sli.

Perhaps NV will stop resting on its laurels and release a real upgrade now. Until then, an 8800GT is still a better value.

GTS
In b4 I could look up the fat MSI rebate, I guess. The rest still hover at about $250-$300, which is still a chunk of dough more than BFG's $170.

I could've sworn I saw some 9800GTX customer reviews on Newegg before, but they seem to have disappeared...

Evga has one for $230, and considering the way better cooler, it is worth it.

Evga>BFG.
Evga took three weeks to return an e-mail. BFG had one back to me in a day.

*Sigh* It's all the same hardware.

Evga has Step-up, BFG doesn't.

I've had better customer support over the phone with Evga as well.

Which you certainly can get if you can wade through the terms and conditions. You aren't necessarily guaranteed an upgrade, either.

Out.

I've successfully done it both times I needed to, though.

eVGA's step up is seriously screwing over Finnish customers. The step-up queue doesn't move. Some of the ppl have waited 4  months and are still on the same place. And what is worse, they can get the new gfx card cheaper by buying it and selling the old card since prices on the eVGA site are way too high.
