This is a sorta changed spec ... since the last I switched the mobo to offer a cheap SLi mobo if i decide to get a second card or w/e, found the Ultra kilowatt PSU on misco for only £100 ... which is overkill I know but leaves me the ability to oc, power 2 high end cards, watercooling kit, and never be on 100% load. I've also gone for the E6750 because it's so cheap and can be clocked so much ... I don't need the OS to be included in the budget either.

I recognise I'm ordering from more than one supplier but this is because Ebuyer are cheaper for the bulk of components, Misco are the only UK stockists of the Ultra X3 ... which IMO is a steal for £100, and only specialised watercooling suppliers stock the XSPC X20 kit, which is also a steal at £70 for an all-in CPU watercooling solution ...

Seems a good price to me for a Watercooled system ... is it worth buying an extra VGA block .. costing approx. £15 ... for the 8800GT and including it in the loop? I've heard the coolers are loud on the GT's and am aiming, as you can see, for a nice quiet system when I put it together in the coming months ...

Thoughts?

Cheers

Get a e8xxx or Q9xxx with a 680i or 7xxI board with a less powerfull PSU, 1000w will kill your electricity bill.

Doing any of that will add atleast £100 to his budget, a increase that he wont nescesarily get the benifit of.  E6750 can get to 4ghz in water without too much of a fuss (assuming you actually NEED to get it that high), and the 650 has the 2 16 speed lanes for SLI if he so chooses.

Yes and when he wants to his CPU in the future, he can't because he's stuck on 650i which doesnt support the newer CPU's.

Even tho 650i sli has 2x PCI-e 16x connectors, they work at 8x when doing SLi... 680i has 2x 16x in SLi

The 680i support dual 45nm's, I wonder if it is the same on the 650i.  I am aware it cant do quads, but, dualies where another matter.  Besides, those new CPU's arent exactly night and day quicker than the 65s.  Granted, there faster, and OC better, but, for £50 more.....  Not so sure.

If you are going to run on vista you should add an extra pair of ram, 4GB in total is great for vista.

But you can always change the ram to 1066mhz manually without changing FSB in nForce chipsets!

I figured I'm going to overclock anyway and the 800mhz stuff is a lot cheaper
