and people say that it works on their am2 sockets even though its not made for ANY amd sockets
how is this possible?

yea but this one is meant for intels

Isn't there a small adapter plate you can buy to fit intel heatsinks on AMD boards?

Kinda like how this works, except the other way around.

I've got that cooler for my Intel - but I'm pretty sure it came with two different clips so it could be mounted on either. I'll try to find the instructions when I get home.

It only fits on s939, unless they updated it. AM2 has a different HSF bracket.

if you mean the bracket for AM2 try contacting Zalman. From what I've heard they have very good customer support and may just send you one.
