That cooler looks beast. Anyone have temps vs. a standard-cooled 8800GT?

Looks much like this Zalman cooler, infact I'm pretty certain it is.
Yeah, but without me having to install it + only $10 over the XFX price. I'm seriously considering this.

We'll waht the hell is wrong with MSI, the cooler on that is from Gigabyte, does that make you feel better, it's a good card like any 8800GT doesn't matter if it's from XFX, EVGA or BFG. I reccomend it.
Yes it simply does._NL_Lt.EngineerFox wrote:

Although that card has very good reviews (Not that newegg reviews woyld be anything to look at when buying)
Doesn't look too bad to me either.

Ya - usually I would only go for XFX or eVGA but this deal is almost too good to pass up.

MSI sucks ass. Anything that isn't a 100% reference card has got cheap and crappy components that will die soon. Get a decent brand card and the cooler. Just don't get MSI.GC_PaNzerFIN wrote:

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
I have an MSI motherboard that has lasted almost two years now and it overclocks nicely too. I'd recommend MSI, but I'm not sure about their graphics cards.
That card doesn't have any cooling on the memory or power circuitry. That will not help the lifetime of the card. Stay away from it or add some yourself
it isn't. The vf1000 doesn't have any crappy plastic bitsTheEternalPessimist wrote:

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Nothing wrong with MSI. Or do you have extensive experience with their products to show otherwise? Owning one or two bad products does not make the whole companies stuff crap...Freezer7Pro wrote:

I've had MSI components for 5 years and they worked without any problems, maybe thats because mine's inside a computer instead of ductaped to a wall.DeathUnlimited wrote:

Dude get this one from leadtek: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814122047
It is $10 cheaper than the MSI one, also has an zalman cooler and the max temps are around 45-50C load. I have the exact same one too and it owns so hard I want buttsex with it!
edit: $180 after mail in rebate!

FYI, I take more care than most people of the stuff I buy, and even when I do so, I've seen countless MSI products fail after just a year or two, for the exact same reasons, over and over. If I would just have one bad experience with MSI, I would know enough to realize that it might be a one-time incident. But it's not. There is a reason for MSI being so cheap, and that reason is that they cut down on the quality of the components they put on their cards and manufacturing quality. MSI capacitators tend to run out way faster than other brands, as can be seen on countless motherboards I have had here. Just a couple of years old ones are completely inoperable.
I also have first-hand experience with their customer care, refusing to take responsibility for obvious faults in the construction. There may be some good products of theirs, but a vast majority of their things are utter crap. For instance, look at their:
K7T motherboard series, capcaitators done for after under two years, numerous voltage problems even without bad capacitators.
915G/P motherboards, extreme performance issues with the SATA controllers, USB controllers and PCI-E bus.
Their GeForce 7 series graphics cards, fans break within a year. Parts fall off after under two years. Got three enocounters with this.
Their GeForce 4 cards' memory modules tend to die within a couple of years.
I could go on forever. If it's not a reference design with reference parts on, chances are high that it will die soon.

woah I have seen many dead MSI boards (PWM gets smoked bad. REALLY BAD.)
EDIT: story of one "happy" MSI user:
his 5th board he got back from RMA started to squal under quad core load. He located the squeal and RMA'ed the board again. When the store tested the board, the PWM components literally exploded on their face. the customer got a call from teh store and they said that woah, please take another board. that was nuts. He got a gigabyte and no problems after that. the guy was from finnish OC site and he definately wasn't happy.

Only addition to it is the plastic pannel over the top, which is easily removed.max wrote:

That said looks like you're right, doesnt have as many fins on the heatsink also the fan has less blades and a wider motor.

Dude, even if you are the chief designer of MSI products you have no right to respond like that. Chill out and get off whatever drugs you may be on._NL_Lt.EngineerFox wrote:
