it would be useful for effectively defending our country from tyrants and occupying armies. and while hunting and sporting can be enjoyed, we should bear in mind that our constitution defends our right to bear arms as a militia. its our responsibility. we are not meant to live like the second class masses of europe, or the exploited third world. thats what makes us american. by now, we religiously follow the mass media and give up all economic and intellectual independence willingly, including our arms, and sense of safety as a function of personal responsibility. i still have some hope.Parker wrote:

anyway, buy weapons while you still can. all candidates have indicated that they have some kind of gun control plan (GG democracy). i can't tell you the future, but its possible that we will see something as restrictive or more restrictive than the AWB and some odds that your family will never have another opportunity to legally obtain full capacity or high powered semi auto firearms after this year--aka, the end of any useful right to bear arms. guns may seem useless in a time of peace. some of the same european villages with that attitude or access to firearms were massacred with pitchforks during the fascist purges. there is no reason for an american to be so defenseless. we have rights and the agency to exercise them. you may not have that same access to weapons when your family realizes that it needs them, so do it now.
yes.PureFodder wrote:
If your serious about protecting the country from your own government I guess you need serious weaponry.
Well said Marinejuana. This week i'm buying two stripped AR lowers, and I may order a few thousand rounds since tonight CA assembly is looking at an ammo restriction (need permit to buy ammo, can only buy face to face 50 rounds per month). Pretty soon Chris Rock's "$5000 bullet" may be reality. I've already emailed my assembly members scathing them for, yet again, ignorantly and arrogantly thinking it will have ANY impact on gun related crime. I even said I'll be joining the black market sales that will immediately step in when/if that measure passes. Or I'll just drive to Cabelas in Reno and buy a thousand rounds at a time.
Carolyn McCarthy (NY-D) is again running her mouth..she keeps trying to get a bill considered that outlaws any military weapons, which means the CMP will go away, no garands, no 03-A3s, no AR/AKs at all, no nada...except shotguns.

I love my guns but I dont see any practical reason why I would want to own a few thousand rounds. Elephant hunting?
Maybe if you hunted a whole tribe of elephants daily.GunSlinger OIF II wrote:

few thousand rounds are a lot. they only give out like 4 or 5 thousand rounds for a company of 100+ to qualify for marksmanship. that should be no more than 52 rounds each and fun at the end.
ya, so if you only need to shoot holes in paper for a marksmanship test, you may not need very many rounds per person. its a pretty much cut and dry application. on the other hand, faced with some kind of worst case scenario for possibly a decade, with no opportunity to resupply (bans? economy?), some civilians might still make use of bullets at wartime rates. in vietnam, some soldiers carried 1000 rounds on their back all the time, basically a rucksack stuffed with loaded magazines. how many do they carry these days in the average iraq humvee? I have no idea, just curious. and how many rounds would you guess the avg GI shoots from enlistment to discharge? i mean, if we are a militia, then people need a good bit of ammo, some people might need a comparable amount to a soldier.GunSlinger OIF II wrote:

anyway, if you want your weapon to last without question through whatever comes to pass, you might as well buy thousands of rounds more than you think you need. you can always sell some of it if you need cash. its a laughable analogy, but in BF2, 250 rounds is what you shoot in maybe 5 minutes. you could easily go through this much .22 LR at a gun range in an hour or two of target practice. in comparison, how much do you think you could possibly use during a decade of war or depression? and remember that you are also going to need enough ammo to learn how to shoot, first. it would be foolish to live with the assumption that these rather frequent events can simply never happen to our people. its unpleasant, and yet undeniably worth it to be prepared. even if you never need your guns or ammo, they hold their value. theres very little to lose.

combat load for an m16 is 210 rounds. machine gunners ofcourse will carry more. we would have extra mags in the back of track inside the sponson boxes.
Notice he mentions 70 ton tanks, not a 25 ton IFV. He admits defeat.GunSlinger OIF II wrote:

Lots of us paranoid Californians stock up on bullets, AR lowers, and other things that could suddenly get banned. Imagine if I have a thousand extra rounds of 9mm that normally sold for 19 cents a cartridge, and after a ban, I could get 50 cents a cartridge? or a dollar a cartridge?GunSlinger OIF II wrote:

Just kidding..the purpose for hoarding is because it's estimated that because of precious metal prices, china, war, china, and of course china, the cost of bullets is skyrocketing constantly. I always buy 500 to 1000 rounds (I have to drive to a neighboring county to a walmart to buy bullets because bullets at walmarts in my county are banned) when I buy. 1000 rounds can last me about 6-8 months. Laws banning buying of bullets will make them double, easily..so I want to make sure I"m good before having to drive out of state to smuggle them in.
Dog bless the peoples' republic of kalifornia!
actually that does make a lot of sense. 1000 rounds spent in 8 months would be enough for me to want to buy a good years worth of ammo. I see the practicality.
You are not kidding.IRONCHEF wrote:

I but at gun shows. 1000 of .223 for about $160 bucks.
On the rare occasions when I go out to shoot I usually fire between 200-500 rounds in .45, 30-06, 12 gage and .223 and another 300-400 rounds of .22 LR
I do not consider 1000 rounds to be anything more than a few days supply plinking.
Ha, you go both ways too. I was 19K, 11M, and 11B. The Bradley was my favorite. It was like living in an RV compared to the M1.Major.League.Infidel wrote:

you might have told me before, where were you at at Hood? I spent 5 years there. My barracks were across the street from casey library and the popeyes shoppette next to the dental clinic. those things probably werent around back then.

If you can make it to US&A in the event of a global zombie outbreak, we can drive over to LA and hitch a ride with GS and ATG, and pick up Parker on the way.Mek-Izzle wrote:

With their arsenals and my knowledge of how to ward off the living dead, we will survive.
BUT HOW WILL WE REPOPULATE THE EARTH?
I was attached to a unit there for a few months in the early '90s. I went with the Unit on a rotation to Fort Irwine for desert warfare training. My best memories of Fort Hood was the road trips to Waco to party with the college girls. Nice bars in Texas.GunSlinger OIF II wrote:
