People who suggest intelligent design are ridiculed by the scientific community because they are stupid.
However, if stupid people in the middle of this country want to teach their stupid kids with books like Of Pandas and People, let them. It not worth that hastle.
The average person is rather simple minded. If superstition comforts them, fine.
On my way to work, there is a billboard for some website. It depicts 4 pictures of monkey face transforming into a man's face. Below reads the question; 'Do you want to let them make a monkey out of you?' There is no point in arguing with any person who agrees with that sign because they are and always will be too stupid/scared to even understand modern science. They live in their world, I live in mine.

There are scientists whose research shows it is not bullshit. A scientist with a Phd in biochemistry is stupid just because you don't agree with his conclusions? How about disproving their theories instead of calling names. Their research is equally scientific as any other scientists, yet it is suppressed because the establishment does not want a competing theory. Since when is only one conclusion allowed in science? Doesn't make any sense.

Stingray, I'm curious. You say there is evidence of intelligent design, but surely if there was actual hard evidence of it then more scientist would be willing to look at it? Scientists are not by nature close minded people, so I'm sure if there was any grounds to it they wouldn't reject it. Plenty of scientists are Christians, yet they don't believe in ID. ID seems to be an entirely US thing, as I know hundreds of Christians over in Europe, yet all of them consider ID to be complete crap.

there is nothing scientific about god, or religion. Either you believe, or you don't.
And since ID is essentially based on religion, there is nothing scientific about it either. It cannot be verified through experiments, it cannot make predictions, and it does nothing to enhance our lifes in the future.
the idea that any school would allow to teach ID next to classical evolution, or instead of it, is absurd, and must be fought to the death.

My major problem with ID is that it is essentially an attempt by conservative christians to establish god as the creator of the universe, through a made-up, pseudo-scientific approach.
An attempt to prove that god exists, of you will. But that is religion, not science. Hence my mistrust.
