Come around a corner and see a guy hit prone.. he gets a delay after going prone... how many licks does it take to get to the center of a big friggin target with an X on him?

As a sniper I have seen a PKM hit me from a distance.. he didnt insta-kill me.. did about 6 bars before I could dodge/evade. I pulled onto the angled wood in the Tv station looked at the possible sites for enemies.. saw the PKm and fired my precious weapon only to see him die on impact....

PKM isnt as ubar as people are complaining.  Twitch reactions can save your life from any weapon. Whether its a sniper, a PKM or a medic sniping with his new Scar-L! Man all the upgrades have their pluses. The new weapon (P90) for the Anti-tank friggin rocks. But I still love my DAO-12 in close quarters.

Besides.. the other changes for sniper far outway the issue some believe exists.

I have expert explosives and only about 5 kills were from tossing a c4 up over the wall at the hotel in Karkand only to CP-Defend against intruders. The rest were well placed on walls , poles, in bushes where tanks treaded next to and BOOM. c4 is about special forces.. stealth and using terrain and special movements to guide your vicious attaches against the enemy scum. Not go melee with c4 tossing it to a person 10 feet away and surviving. Ever watch Tv and see a C4 pack kill and injure X amount of people as a terrorist exploded his pack? the whole friggin area would have been toast. those c4 tosses while bunny hopping werent anywhere close to fair against enemies. C4 combat hasnt changed for me in 1 bit.  I still maintain an increase in explosives due to well placed defending and counter armor locations. the people who complain that C4 doesnt work are mad because they cant toss it from a roof across a street to kill people or vehicles  or  cant get a tank on the other side of the wall. Prethought and placement are better for these engagements. I got 6 kills from well placed C4 along a road. People running, a car, APc and a Tank... that was sweet timing and so much more fulfilling than C4 melee combat.

Ha, Ha!  The noob whiners who got us this P.O.S. patch now are whining about the PKM.  Until a new game comes out and I can switch from this stupid game with the god aweful changes in 1.2, I decided to cause as much misery as possible to all the little whining babies out there and noob them with the PKM.  I racked up several rounds last night with over 100 points on 64 man servers.  Go prone... then snipe, spawn rape, and generally kill everyone.  Oh, and I am not giving any noobs any ammo either.  The heck with them.  1.2 sucks.  It is too easy and boring.  The noobs are still gonna get raped and whine about it.  1.12 was much, much better than this patch.  The only fun now is causing some whining sniper and/or noob to slam his mouse down now that they complained so much they got us this 1.2 garbage.  Maybe when they have been sniped with the PKM to the point of frustration, they will learn to appreciate how much better 1.12 was with several good kits, as opposed to 1 uber kit like we have now.  I logged 100 hours with each kit in 1.12 and came to the conclusion that they were all good. 

Sniper was fine.  I would only change it so M95 Tker's could not shoot you out of a vehicle.  Slightly better in 1.2.  Claymores now unrealistic and stupid.  Garbage vs. support for sniping.

Support gun was average, but nades were great so they balanced it out to a good kit.  Now it outsnipes, outguns anything.  Nades are garbage since you cannot control the uber toss of 1.2.   Weapon of choice to pwn all.

Engineer was good for vehicle guys.  Still good in 1.12.  Mines are mindless in 1.2.

AT was fine and had the awesome DAO for street fighting.  Garbage now in 1.2 since you cannot jump and shoot behind a fence or wall to get tank.  Garbage vs. support gun in streets.

Assault was good in 1.12.  Annoying to get suicide noobtubed, but that's life.  Now grenades useless, the flash nades useless, and gun is junk vs. support in a fight.  Garbage in 1.2.

Special Ops was good in 1.12 to control tanks.  Now tanks have nothing to fear and rule.  1.2 and ruined the infantry game by giving free reign to spawn killing tanks.  Garbage now.

Medic was very good in 1.12.  Now with the inability to jump up after being prone and shocking someone, and getting mowed down by support half way across the map, 1.2 has made medic suck pus filled gauze.

Conclusion, 1.2 has ruined every kit except support.  Give the 1.12 whiners what they asked for and use the support to snipe, spawn kill, alley rape, and mow them down so they can keep whining.  Maybe they will realize that 1.12 was actually a good patch.

I'm sorry, but i'd have trouble making that kind of shot if I had a sniper rifle. The gun is too accurate - it SHOULD NOT be able to make that kind of accuracy at that kind of range.

they could have made half the improvement it is now and the LMGs still would have kicked massive ass and the game wouldn't be so inbalanced because of 1) the gun's power and 2) the amount of people who are now using the support class primarily and changing the nature of infantry combat.

lol... I remember those long thread about the "noob tubers"... seems so far away now, doesn't it...

People who were complaining about those are now happy and those who loved shooting nades at their feet and survived are now crying...

Adapt.... the game changed, we all know the maps and people still playing the same now will get easily kill by PKM... Never go head to head against a support kit now (before they were just an easy target)... As going in a CQC against a DOA was and still is suicide.

Sniper are suppose to hide... if you put your little head out of roof like the TV station, yes expect to be shot and killed... PKM or no PKM... I did it with all the kits (except antitank and engineer) and now with the support as well.

And now that accuracy of Sniper guns has been improved, a Sniper getting killed by PKM is a Sniper that didn't check what he was doing. Sniper = Hide = Kill = Move = Hide...

BTW... proned, the PKM/MG36 should be the best MGs in the game. It's when you are standing that accuracy is wrong, should have a big difference between the two. The question is, can EA/Dice modify it to allow that...may be not.

As far as having only support and sniper kit now, I don't know where you are playing. May be you should change server and go for server that put team play before stats... Because I didn't see that... yes there is more supports class now, but this was the worse class before, now they can hold their own.

You don't have time to deploy any counter-measures in most LMG situations.  The first two shots WILL kill you, before you can see him.  And even if he does miss, you cant hear the damn PKM anymore, so he could lob off 1oo rounds without you noticing.  Someone else mentioned that LMGs were made for SUPPORT.  Exactly right.  Your supposed to keep the enemy under cover while your unit sneaks up on him.  But now, how are you supposed to scare away an enemy with a silent gun?  And how are you supposed to support your unit when they are all support as well.

Who said they loved the PKM now that its good?  Well so do I.  And the next guy, and the guy after that.  Lets just call this game Battlefield 2: Machine Gun wars?  I guarantee you this:  You will hate this game when everyone acts like you.  Reflect on that.

Ummm... since accuracy is something you can't do anything about... If the machinegun shoots very accurate, then it took him pointing the mouse at you... If it's not accurate, then it took him pointing the mouse at you and keeping it there longer until you're hit. So where's the skill? No matter how the gun shoots, it's the same skill regardless. It's pointing a mouse and clicking in a quick manner. Please stop with all the "skills" shit. It's old. Just like the words owned and noob.

there's a reason you have a 3.33x or 5x scope...
If they REALLY wanted us sniping at distance, they would remove/reduce that damn fog. Mashtuur and Karkand are the worst offenders of this for the tan fog, and Dragon is terrible to fly in because you can't even see your crosshairs.

er.. thats only about 200 yards maybe 250 yds.

It's in my field of vision and my distance sighting is turned down a little for my graphics settings.

Thats actually not a hard shot at all. In patch 1.12 wwith M95 the helicopter was taking the flag. While hovering I was in the road next to the garbage can right next to the construction site and I sniped the pilot from the chopper. the gunner crashed and it was fairly funny to watch.

The accuracy of the sniper rifles didnt change much for a good sniper... it only made those who sucked a little better.

the new rifle has a good power to it and it seems to kill a non-armored kit in 1 hit. <direct sternum hit> Any other hit and it takes 2, excluding the dreaded 'between the eyes'.

There is nothing wrong with the sniper weapon and the PKM is not as Godly as the one of the Previous posts claims. it's good but I killed a number of PKM wielding people last night with various different weapons. only newbies who dont know how to shoot straight have to worry about PKM's. sure a already prone with distance between is definitely an issue.. but dont go running down a street where a PKM is known to be. sneak up on them or come around a corner where your gun is close enough to kill them as fast as they shoot you. Tactics... thats what it's all about.

He probably had a commander infantry spot and it said "Sniper" and had a red X.. and being that most Newby snipers sit in specific locations that are easy to see them.. corner of walls, building tops, in the middle of the road... etc You can look in that direction from the Crane and see the man like clear as day. The PKM isnt godly and the man didnt have to chat. 1short burst does considerable damage. Now if you are on a slant or against a corner and only your head and rifle are showing and I can see you... The HIT probability on your head becomes massive since the rest of your body isnt showing and your head does bigger damage and well lets just say a direct hit between the eyes will kill you..

Maybe that 1 shot got lucky... those 3 bullets.. 1 hit you in the eye and well thats toast no  matter what weapon you were hit with.

I sniped a fully healthed person with a special ops pistol with 1 hit from a long way away. He was only showing his head over a wall. I fired for fun and BAM.. he fell dead.. Damn lucky shot. Dont show just your head.. and dont snipe from obvious sniper positions.

Do a search on the internet for that Sniper guide and read it. On a roof, on the side of a mountain.. at the corner of buildings.. you are a NEON sign waiting to die.

against a wall in high grass.. nobody is looking for you.

I was at the TV station in sharqi. I wont say where but I was in the middle of some grass in the big open planes. A special ops came from his position and hit the ground. I swear he scanned the area because I watched him look.. I was like DOH.. I'm dead. He went prone and started scanning the building.. less than 6 feet from me. I pulled my rifle ..BLAM.. in the ear.. he died. I stood and saw another behind me looking off I ducked .. he came over and I waited till he was in a favorable position. BLAM.. dead.

Either I am the luckiest sniper around or I know how to hide in the plain open. They were scanning the roof, the flag balcony, and other wall edges for snipers. they never looked at their feet.

The guy can f*ck his megarailsnipermachinegun if he does not see me. In this case all he can do is fall on the ground with his face down and a hole in his head...

I know it seems that I have such a big face, but it is true! A guy with a PKM who cant see me will go prone because his gun is useless in crouch/stand position, and nothing is easier than headshot a not moving prone guy...
And a good sniper always stay hidden.

Are you sick in the head?

At CQC the machine gun.. held at hip or prone.. is unloading craploads of bullets at you. the closer to the barrel you are.. the more Fubar you are.

An Uzi unloads its clip of 30 bullets in seconds covering an area roughly 10 feet cubed. There is a chance that anyone in that area will be hit at least once by a unloaded clip and this is just in real life. 3 bullet burst are very effective.

Now lets look at a machine gun able to unload some 450 rounds per minute or 8 bullets a second.  Now you are basically within point blank range,PB, or short range. The deviation on the weapon ranges from 3 while standing to a .8 while prone. The shots are a Cone from the shooter. The closer you are to the barrel the closer that cones deviation affects. So at 2-5 meter, more like CQC within 10 feet.. his weapon is spraying you with 8 bullets a second any 1 of which has a chance to bounce off your head. If he sprays direct center on yuour waistline.. then you are taking up the majority of his deviation arc.

A squad of 6 people roughly 2-5 meters in front of the machine gun ALL have the chance of getting the whole load of bullets coming from that gun. Accuracy has nothing to do with that amount of bullets.  He's going to kill all 3 of those people fast if they dont have faster reaction speeds.

The DAO-12 or any shotgun really. It's releasing lots of pellets per casing. It's releasing multiple casings per second with a good trigger finger. 5 people came around a corner and Indiana Jones style my weapon was trained in between the people.. not pointed directly at them. The people in back werent shooting because the people in front were blocking them. I took 1/2 damage from the ones who fired but trusty DAO-12 in the 2-5 meter range you mention MOWED them all down..

Shotguns were called Scatterguns for a reason. The were crowd control.. "Riot guns". Any weapon that releases multiple bullets in a spread and that spread is a Cone is going to utterly toast people at PB range.

the PKM hip shot or prone.. dont be in its path or be faster trigger than the enemy. My DAO-12 has mowed thru PKM's in round the corner fire offs.. but then again I wasnt unscathed. Both weapons are fearful. The PKM has some range for itself. Prone its very deadly. A good sniper and/or Scar-L, G36C, G3 can hose that PKM fellow from a distance in single shot modes.

Stop complaining about the PKM and learn to use the wepaons you have with more efficiency.

I agree the new patch totally sucks. Those guys from EA really need to go back to school. I've been killed several times by a PKM lying behind a rock, but the rocks aren't there for the PKM guy. And what is worse, I don't hear his gun at all. No, it's not because of my computer. I've seen it at my friends' too. That happens with more LMG's, tanks, APC's and FAV's too. I guess EA calculated that the speed of the bullets is 10 times faster than the speed of sound. Suddenly you're dead and you have to read in the screen to see what actually killed you. I get stuck in the SAM's at Dragon Valley too. Go in and can't get out. I hear a strange rattle when I press the R button. So then you're sitting there waiting to get knifed or bombed by an airplane. Really funny. Some changes were badly needed but now it's beyond fun. I guess EA finds the fun of new players more important than the more experienced because they bring in new money and will tell their friends it's a really easy game if you chose the PKM as your main kit.

The IGLA/Stinger emplacement in Dragon Valley I believe you are referring to is at the Farmhouse at the top of the hill.  You need to rotate the thing around to an opening becaues the sandbags around the emplacement is too small allowing you to only get out in only a certain range (namely the two openings).

What drives me crazy is how the bipod needs to be pulled out every time you switch back to the weapon . Once it is oulled out it should remain out . No reason at all to keep unfolding it . It's like having a sharpening animation for the knife every time you pull it out . loz .

Yeah I remember the good old days, I used to be able to snipe out snipers with the PKM before 1.2 & now it seems everyone uses nothing but LMG's everywhere. Getting taken our by an MG36 with a single shot from the AA at the hotel on Oman too my sniper location at the top of the hotel is just unreal.

The old LMG's werent as good as they should have been, but that made the fact that resupply points were so much easier to get team points than health or repair. But giving it the accuracy of a sniper rifle & the rate of fire of an SMG is just mad.

Bottom line... LMG's needed improving & they did... just a bit on the overkill side :s

i've used the PKM very little up to now.  i always found it a little inaccurate, but i never really used single or short bursts much with it.  i've been playing a little more with it lately, and have been quie pleased with the results i'm getting in control firing.

MG36 rocked in 1.12, the best bit was that you'd be one of the few support players, and I used to hate the PKM, all the weapons are quite dangerous in the hands of a pro, most players specialise with 1-2 weapons and probably a vehicle, the Jackhammer keeps losing in close combat due to the pause before firing, snipers used to piss everyone else off because there would be 20/32 players going sniper, I had to counter this by going medic L85A1, then later found the MG36 and did even better, learn to counter you're problem(this time the PKM) and pwnzor while everyone cries about your old issue
