@usmarine's comment on blogs: That's because they don't provide news - they provide an opinion. I guess if Fox News didn't claim they are "Fair and Balanced", I wouldn't mind them as much.

I will never take a blog as unbiased - they will always have an agenda. I prepare myself for the agenda before I read them - I make sure I know the intention of the blog. That's why you can't take a Linux blog seriously in posts about Windows, or a Hippie blog seriously on posts about the Iraq war. You have to know the bias and weigh the statements accordingly.

Come on, what is the matter with you people.  They present the news the same as everyone else.  But the prime time stuff and morning stuff is also the same as everyone else, full of peoples opinions.  The news is still the news.  "Country A invades Country B"  There ya go, that is the news, you cannot slant that.  Then people give their opinions.  That seems pretty fair to me, and they are not changing the news.
Actually FOX news went to court to establish their right to deliberately distort or falsify the news. They can present anything they like and claim it to be factual news with no legal repercussion unless it breaks another law. If they report that Iran invaded the moon on tonights news that's perfectly alright.

As far as country A invades country B goes they way it's reported can make a massive difference to people's beliefs about the events. Take the US war in Vietnam. On the one hand you can go with what the US news said the US went into South Vietnam to protect the South Vietnamese against the North. On the other hand you could go with what alot of the world was reporting that the US invaded and attacked South Vietnam. Were Israel trying to secure two of their captured soldiers or blowing apart a rival neighbouring country? Did Germany invade Poland to stop cross border aggression or to take over the country? Did vietnam invade Cambodia to stop Pol Pot massacreing people or to take control of the region. In all of these cases what you think happened can vary wildly depending on what news source you look at.

Try reading some of the posts coming from supposed 'libruls' in this thread usmarine. I've already read a few claiming CNN is totally full of shit too.

No news station is the 'be all and end all' of news, anyone who subscibes to that idea is even more stupid than someone who read blogs for news.

It's because the incompetent little boys and girls running their liberal shows advocating the Al Quaeda are realizing it's no longer the '60's and '70's and people who believe in freedom don't buy their shit anymore.

And it makes them sad, I can tell you.

I'd be very, very surprised if any news network (even Al Jazeera) publicly or even implicitly supports Al Qaeda like you claim. Your post smacks of someone totally lost in Conservative political rhetoric. I actually love Fox News, it's hilarious...it's one of the funniest things on TV.

I had always thought US media would be the smartest when it comes to subtle, clever forms of population-control propaganda but then we started getting Fox News on European cable TV and I discovered that ye are useless, about as subtle as a kick in the nuts. Fox News is woefully poor at passing off it's news as being anything other than biased towards right-wing, conservative opinion...that's a simple fact.

IMO, you guys hate bill O so much, you are bias to the entire network, and do not give it a fair chance from the start.

That would be true if my reservations about Fox were limited only to Bill O'Really but I've studied the style and presentation of the Station fairly in depth as part of college work (we covered semiotics in Psychology) and biased opinions in projects doesn't get graded too well in most Academic institutions, tutor's tend to look for facts and examples to back up theories.

They're slightly left wing biased, but not on the level of bias of American media like Fox and CNN

What are the watchdog regulations like for news broadcasting in Britain? I heard an ex-Sky News and ex-Al-Jazeera news journalist on RTÉ radio a while back talking about Al Jazeera and he seemed to claim that Al-Jazeera would've been allowed to set up business in Britain unlike FOX News (according to him not me) who were considered too biased.

Here's an idea...watch both and make up your own mind. That's what I do, it's dangerous to limit yourself to one variety of news source.
