Is there such a thing as a shooting range where civilians can go to fire some rounds off?

Since I plan on being a 3d weapon modeler, I'd like to personally know how guns work in general, how they shoot, and such.

I assume there are places like that in the US, but I think Canada is a lot more bitchy about firearms.

Anyone know?

i was going to call you a nub but you're a coastie so i understand

canada is more bitchy about firearms, seeing as they lost my third fucking permit. which means i need to wait another 6 months to write that stupid fucking test over again >.< all this so i can buy ammo for the guns my father gave me :\

but that aside you should be able to find a range somewhere near you if you look... check your phonebook?

Well the only thing I'm finding are either hunting clubs, or training facilities which have something like month long training programs for $300, which I don't need.

Most places here in Arizona have automatic weapons readily available for the range.

Ummm, that's what a firing range is. If I wanted to go to the nearest firing range all I would have to do is take my guns and ammo down there, show them what I'm going to fire, pistols, rifles, or shotguns. (Three different ranges.) Pay them a certain amount for each gun, then go to my assigned shooting booth and have fun. A lot quicker and easier is to just step out in my backyard though.
